Come to find out that this is par for the course when it comes to the entertainment industry. I just watched a video from a few years ago talking about China helping fund the budget for major movies, having deals with all the major production outlets and studios and all that. And of course, like others have mentioned, South Park's latest episode was all about it.

I remember when they got mad about Martin Scorsese's film [i]Kundun[/i]. Disney actually apologized to them for disturbing it saying 'it was a stupid mistake' and 'This film was a form of insult to our friends, but other than journalists, very few people in the world ever saw it’ because they didn't put very much $ behind the distribution and made Mulan to try and smooth things over.
