The Postmodern Frontier, season 1, Part 5
sorry for delay. Stayed up past midnight watching The Martian🙂
(Click tag for previous posts) “So, does anyone care to explain what exactly all that was about?” Exclaimed PolarSkink. All eight warriors, plus Lee, were reunited back at the house. Everyone had a different opinion on what exactly happened and why the two monsters had come to Enwood. “They’re simply roaming around,” Rezyl Azzir argued. Batpug disagreed. “The Wretch was hunting the Razer,” Toaster put in. Assassin argued. Soon everyone was up in arms over it, except for Pencilsnake, who was thinking hard. “I’ve got it!” He cried. “What?” Pancake Monk exclaimed. “Impossible! No wizard can think of anything before I can!” Pencilsnake chuckled and shook his head. “Let him talk,” Lee said. Pencilsnake took a deep breath. “Well, they were looking for something. It’s that simple.” The others seemed confused. “Ok, I suppose...” Artemis said. “But looking for what, exactly?” Toaster wanted to know. “Not sure,” Pencilsnake shrugged. “Let’s ask them!” Pancake Monk jumped up. “Dude, the Wretch is in two pieces in who-knows-where,” Assassin gave him a look. “Kidding,” laughed the Wizard. Batpug spoke up. “Perhaps we will find the what if we know the where...,” he said. “Good idea,” Lee applauded. “Only problem is, we don’t know where the Wretch was going and the Razer was in the middle of a parking lot.” “In the middle of the lot. In the middle of the town center,” Rezyl added. “Good point,” said Toaster. “Well then, I guess we’ll have to check it out,” said Lee. ——————————————————————— The nine of them made the trip to the town center at midday. Lee took PolarSkink, Pencilsnake, Toaster, and Batpug with him inside the building and found the lock had already been broken. “Strange,” Lee said. “Weapons out and ready, everyone.” “I’ll teleport in...,” said Batpug. He quickly disappeared and reappeared again. “No one as far as I can see...” “Great. Let’s check it out then,” said Lee. No one dared to turn the lights on in the abandoned building. The last thing they needed was to awaken some strange beast to fight. Toaster examined the courtroom. Batpug searched the offices. PolarSkink checked the basement. All was going well until they heard PolarSkink say: “Um, guys? Check this out.” Lee was the first to arrive, with Pencilsnake. “I don’t see... wait, what the...” Lee stopped. There, on the far wall, a message was written; FLEE ALL OR SUFFER. “Flee from what?” Pencilsnake asked. “A secret door, most likely.” “Let’s get the others. I’d hate to suffer on my own,” said PolarSkink , who quickly backed away from the wall. On their way to tell everyone else, Toaster met up with them. “Batpug’s outside. Pancake Monk wanted you guys.” Once they all went back out to the parking lot, they found Assassin and the two Wraiths standing far, far away from Pancake Monk. “I advise you get back too,” the Wizard said. “What for?” Asked Lee, as he and everyone else did stand back. “Probably has something to do with pancakes,” grumbled AssassinNWW. Pancake Monk nodded to himself and said only; “Yes. This is it.” Raising his staff, he cast down a lightning bolt onto the pavement, and conjuring a boulder, he smashed it upon the spot where the lighting hit. Dust and rocks flew. When it was all over, all gasped in shock except Pancake Monk. “Yes sir, that’s it,” he chuckled. Continued in Part 6...
