Hey all, Thanks for the feedback! I'll pass along feedback concerning Enhancement Cores. Additionally, the team is aware of players wanting the Forge intro quests to either be account based, or shortened on alternate characters. In terms of Planetary Materials, these can not only be purchased at the Spider, but can also be acquired by completing daily bounties from vendors on each Destination. If you find yourself lacking in these resources, I highly recommend grabbing these bounties as you do Flashpoints or other activities on the destinations. Ultimately, the current grind of Destiny 2 is a result of of feedback - players asking for long-term goals within the game that can be achieved through gameplay and various investment/economy systems. For the Annual Pass content and post-Forsaken seasons, these were developed to be extensions of the end-game. Increases to power levels, the introduction of more activities or end-game versions of said activities, and new gear to grind for. This isn't to say "we gave you what you wanted, so stop complaining!" This to say that we've gone in this direction to address player feedback, but Destiny 2 will continue to change and evolve. Not just new reasons to play, but changed to existing content to address feedback and keep players engaged. Quality of Life, sandbox updates, economy tuning, etc. We will continue to collect feedback and inform the team of what the community is talking about, so thank you again for coming to Bungie.net to lend your thoughts on the current experience.

  • Why should I spend 30+ minutes of my limited playtime on an activity I find neither fun nor rewarding? Is this game a full time job or a hobby? Because the planetary materials make it feel like a job.

  • Wow, 10 people liked that. Pass along that 00.0000689% of players gave an approving response to that statement. There's some feedback.

  • What about simple QOL for console users? What about the perk ”Traction” we’re forced to have on our boots? I can’t move around with my character smooth enough without it, no matter the sensivity (which set to high makes it impossible to aim with). And for all the butthurt PC-players reading this; I don’t care what you think. The post is not for you - just keep breathing.

Oh man... I think something got lost in translation there. Players didn’t ask for tedious grind in every location to the point some leave out of sheer frustration. Players were asking for more things to do. Activities that were interesting, engaging, meaningful in complex yet rewarding ways. What we have now is just soul crushing, repetitive grind for a limited selection of cosmetics, armor and weapons, or resources that act as walls to the little character progression and customization that is available. That’s not what anyone wanted.

It should be obvious at this time, given their refusal to budge. Re-read your third line. THEY...AREN'T...CAPABLE...OF...DOING...THIS. They are NOT up to the challenge of delivering new and varied content to keep us interested and engaged. They are so creatively bankrupt or so constantly behind and strapped for time, manpower, and resources that doing something as simple and obvious as eliminating armor "types" so that all armor has the potential for max mobility, resiliency, or recovery isn't an option or even an idea. This alone would open up more varied loot, player choice and flexibility, bringing back some of the grind we used to enjoy. I don't think they're capable of even identifying what we did enjoy. Rebooting year one gear to year two random rolls would triple loot potential and player choice. It's been proposed numerous times and they won't do it. More accurately, they physically CAN'T DO IT, because they're perpetually stuck behind the eight ball. Instead, they're desperately scraping the bottom of the barrel with their teeth. When bringing back what is essentially ascendant shards, arguably the most reviled aspect of progression in all of D1 is the best solution you can think of to coerce greater long-term player participation, you know that they have hit rock-bottom, six feet under. They're staring out of a grave of their own making, and when we try to hand them ladders, they inexplicably dismantle them and reconfigure them as shovels.

  • It's a hard balance to make. I feel for new players with the way things are at the moment. Don't forget new players potentially become long term players

  • Personally, I love the grind! It differentiates between casuals and dedicateds. If you wanna be max power, GO GET IT!!! If you wanna be a casual, cool! That's all you. But in endgame activities, typically casuals die a lot, dont know or care to know the mechanics, and will leave in the middle of an activity. They usually ruin the gameplay experience for the dedicated player. That's why I like the grind. It helps me identify the shitties vs the real fan of the game.

  •
the current grind of Destiny 2 is a result of of feedback from [streamers that play this game for a living]
Fixed that for you. Check out my write ups from the Taken King release back in Destiny 1 under #HumaneDesign Seems like a pretty hard regression to bad old systems that weren't meant to provide a "meaningful" expirence, but designed to waste player's time and maximize "engagement". https://www.bungie.net/St/Forums/Post/195816426?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/St/Forums/Post/191944100?sort=0&page=0

  • Applause for thorough response! For me, Bungie devs always operate like this: Feedback: we are bored and want things to do Devs: well you have 10 things to do Players: yes but we want 50 things to do Devs: (6 months later) ok in response to player feedback here are 500 things that you MUST do! You see what Im saying here? Same thing happens with buffs and nerfs. The light is either blinding, or turned off completely. We need a dimmer switch.

Hey, thanks for another communication on this. I really appreciate that there is more detail in this one. I think smarter people have addressed major points here already. So I want to offer suggestions on how we can keep the comms going. COMMUNITY - there are several champions of the issues under discussion. Not only for their insight, but importantly for the civil way in which it’s conveyed. Too often, I see people make new, insightful discoveries only to arm them with name-calling. It really takes away from your point, which, if worth its salt, should be allowed to stand. Leave the name-calling and tropes to the trolls. I know it’s hard. People can really git gud at triggering. Ultimately, it makes it easier for CMs and likeminded people to tell the difference. The sharper the difference, the stronger the position. CMs - I’m not sure how much of your responses are yours versus some dev, but if you (or Bungie) make assertions about what the community asked for, maybe point to the source of it. I sense, based on your assertion and the feedback to it, there is a disconnect between your definition of community and ours. We need that common understanding of terms in general. Without it, it is too easy for ill-intentioned people to disrupt ongoing dialogue, at which point, we may keep talking, but no one is listening or even knows who to listen to. If we can build on that comms style, you’ll find that more often we, while remaking critical, are more willing to praise the things we see that are great and/or in response to our feedback. I’ve seen the start of it already, and nearly everyone here that has been constructively critical has also repeated how much they love this game! We have an opportunity to take this in a productive direction. I hope we all take it!

  • Ah yes, the usual bollox about we are listening, we will take on board your feedback. I haven't bothered to read you post beyond the first three words, what's the point when a fart in space is more likely to have an effect. Since Bungie only listen to themselves and streamers that spend too much time with only a controller and one other thing in their hands when it comes to you.. 🤷

  • Good response. Personally feel destiny is in a pretty good place, gambit just ain't my thing so wont play as much this season but will do for the next. Still needs some quality of life improvements with cores etc but doesn't effect me personally.

  • Thank you for this kind of response. I think most of us just want more detailed explanations like this, so we can understand why things are being done. I wanted the game to be more grindy and feel more rewarding, but not getting the Dreaming City ghost after 50+ (I lost count) tries and seeing people still not get 1K Voices is too much. Bungie needs to find middle ground with RNG. It seems either giving stuff away or hitting lottery are the options they choose.

  • All you have to do, is remove enhancment cores from infusion! Rename them back to masterwork cores and everyone is happy. Why is that so hard Bungie? Grinding for material is already enough to infuse, let it go. Undo that insane core change, please!

  • Regarding planetary materials can you please let the devs know that a meaningful use is required for Baryon Boughs. I have over 5000 of them and there is nothing worth using them on.
