Heavy and special ammo finders need to work better

I have noticed that the ammo finder perks on armor only work about 20% of the time, when they do work, I can get a ton of drops but when they don't (they usually don't) I can get maybe 3 or 4 heavy bricks (at the most) with 3 heavy ammo finders on during an entire activity.

  • Oh, don't get me started on special/heavy ammo finders. They work in places where you need it the least. In places like Gambit and The Forge, I'm convinced they don't work at all. Of course, the game doesn't tell you this.

    • It’s Bungie. If a perk says it does something, I expect the bare minimum of that thing. Squeezing drop rates, rewards and progression is all they know how to do anymore.

    • Is it still glitched where if you have two heavy ammo perks on they cancel each other out?

    • IMPORTANT: Never have Primary Ammo finder on anything! Since Primary Ammo already is a way higher drop rate, this perk literally stops heavy and special spawning all together. You literally see an instant change in ammo within minutes of taking this perk off. THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE: It’s actually on most Year 1 exotics AND when you pull from collections! I change exotics for important activities and it completely changes your entire game IE: My last raid I had the perk and only had primary for the boss which made me next to useless till I realized I forgot to change my Warlock exotic.

      • Imagine it like rolling dice. You get heavy if you roll a 4. Any other number you don't get it. Ammo finder would be like adding another number to the pool. Now it would be, if you roll 4 or 1, you get heavy. Technically you have double the chance. But you could absolutely roll 100 times and not get either of those numbers even once, though that would be odd, it's not impossible. The probability doesn't increase with each roll. It resets. Just like dice. No matter how many times you roll it, the probability of getting any specific number is still 1/6. It's the same on the first roll and 1000th roll. So basically, you have shit luck and should stack more finders in your set. Also heavy is the rarest one for a reason. Even with 5x finders on you'll never be getting heavy every other kill, that would be stupid and game breaking. PS I run 4X special finder and make it rain green bricks.

        • It is implemented like that so everything you do PvE and Gambit become more challenging. Also, I am not sure but I have heard that having more than 2 heavy/special ammo finders it becomes glitch. It is the same if you have a primary ammo finder.

        • I find it really funny that you can go to a rally flag, load up and go to the first forge on EDZ, kill all the Cabal before you start it up and heavy drops like candy. But, if you go to that forge empty and kill all the Cabal it doesn't drop. Is it safe to say the coding is backward's?

          • I think there are a number of perks on armor that are nothing more than placebos or so tame that they make no difference. Reduced flinch, slight reduced flinch, etc. Or, maybe they only work in certain situations, which the game doesn't tell you of course. It's all a joke to me.

          • I see enough heavy ammo to build a bridge to china. Only when I'm already full on heavy. When I actually need it it's like trying to find an honest politician or journalist. That's with one HAF.

                • I went two rounds of gambit with 2 heavy ammo finders on and no heavy drop before. I was like "well that is a waist of two armor perks. "

                  • Heavy ammo finder has been underwhelming ever since the days of D1 Armamentarium. I personally think ammo drops are set on a timer, I'll get a few bricks in a short period of time but they never seem to trickle in evenly. Every so often on the old "we've woken the hive" story section with a nova bomb I would just get 20-30 purple bricks all at once. A timer or central RNG number that gets applied to everything that happens within a certain time frame (which wouldn't really make sense when raid drops weren't the same for everyone) are the only reasons I can think up of why that happened.

                    • They now work similar to Ruin Wings. Nothing drops when you need it, but the floor is full of bricks when you're full. They once worked perfectly fine, but since the slot changes they stopped working as good. I'm pretty sure it is intentional to counteract the slot changes. Oh, but unlike Ruin Wings, they still work great in low level activities. Items should work the same regardless, otherwise what is the point in grinding for specific perks if they have a reduced chance of working in higher level activities?

                      • I have one heavy ammo finder on and that is my Bond, Mark, Cloak. I found more than 1 was a waste. So I have scavenger or reserves on the rest. I have no problem in getting heavy to drop with this setup. On the odd occasion nothing drops, I use a trick someone told me a long time ago press the PS button and ammo drops. I have no idea how this works but we all use it.

                      • At one point I tried testing it's effects in a forge doing the 'clean up on aisle five' triumph and taking the special ammo finders off gave me more bricks

                      • I think what they indeed need - is freaking CONSISTENCY. Because in PvE of all sorts (minus raids - haven't been there), even without Heavy Weight Strike Feat (or whatever - one that gives us more heavy ammo) there is enough heavy ammo to carefully play with machine gun drawn (i.e. firing mostly in semi-auto) having only one Heavy Ammo Finder perk armour. Yet in Gambit, having three or even four may spawn zero heavy ammo pouches. I played few matches today and only one of them showered me with 2 pouches. Since I don't touch those spawn points, how the hell I'm supposed to fight primeval if I'm titan and my super isn't as effective as other classes? Can't say much for special ammo, I rarely use weapon that uses it. But clearly, given lower reserves it's impossible to play with one sniper rifle (19 rounds) playing with one Special Ammo Finder.
