What's everyone's views of slide shotgunning?

It's alright and should stay in the game

On the one hand, it requires practice to get used to, but on the other hand, it provides fast movement while aiming and shooting your weapon, making your hitbox harder to hit. In my opinion, I feel it's a bit unfair and is being overused in the Crucible, since it's such an easy thing to learn and develop, yet uses an unfair advantage of normal accuracy while moving fast. A similar issue with the slide shotgunning issue was the Rainbow 6 dropshotting issue. Players would drop to the floor and maintain all forms of accuracy while adjusting their hitbox to be unfairly at an advantage from an enemy. Since they've nerfed that tactic by creating a time where you can't shoot for a small amount of time, it caused players to become more skillful and rely on proper tactics than a cheap one. I know what a few of you might say, "Just range them, so easy lol". But regarding that, it forces you to be in open areas, leaving you at a disadvantage to the other players because someone's using a cheap mechanic. So I'm wondering, what's everyone's thoughts on it? Could it be something that stops skillful play? Or is it the future of PvP as we all know it?

    • For Rainbow it was different though. The hit box would drop faster than the person and you’d be left shooting at a guys upper torso or head on screen when their hit box wasn’t there. This isn’t really the case in Destiny cause there is no point during sliding in which this happens. A closer comparison should be how players now crouch and lean strafe to try and throw your aim off in R6. Which is completely viable. I also feel that it’s so effective because of how weak and unforgiving shotguns counters are. Autos, Submachines, Sidearms, and fast charging Fusions all are just too inconsistent to be able to defend against shotguns. We also lost our OHK sticky grenades from year 1 that would keep them at bay and punish bad pushes. Slide shotgunning isn’t the problem and should stay. But it’s counters need to be buffed.

    • Personally, I suck at slide shotgunning. If you get me with it, good job. I usually just Super Mario jump towards my opponent and hope for the best.

    • It's irritating but it's a legitimate technique and very effective. Learn to do it yourself.

    • Don't forget to add the double dodge exotic....and some mods to give you quick regen on dodge....and run the nightstalker with invis on dodge......off radar constant in sprint invis and slide shotgun. A couple of shotgun scavenger perks to keep you full up on ammo and well that should cover it. I am sure this is like one of a thousand broken play methods in the game right now though you can easily pick and choose which one's have you raging at the moment. In the end though the crucible is what it is and if that is no fun then the best remedy is not play it. Other than that nothing will have the slightest chance of any change.

    • The Crucible is stale trash because of them. That and the multitude of other high TTK weapons.
