That is an opinionated statement
-
It can't even come up with it's own plot. It has to piggyback off disney films and shit.
-
Actually most of the plot of Kingdom Hearts doesn’t involve Disney, aside from Mickey, Donald & Goofy being characrers. The only one I’d say that had to piggyback off Disney was the first game, with Maleficent’s whole evil council. But if you look at Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 2, 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep, and Dream Drop Distance, the stories were focusing not on Disney, but rather using Disney as an easy way to get some level themes in. If you think the story’s bad, fair enough, but I don’t think you can discount the whole thing, just because they have Disney themed levels. It’s more of lazy level design rather than lazy storytelling.
-
the first one was there only good one, story wise
-
I disagree completely. I’ve loved them all story wise.
-
That's fair. It's subjective. I didn't like them because the first was written to stand on it's own. The others feel tacked on and have many plot holes.
-
My only real problem with the story is how little Disney began to integrate with the whole Xehanort thing. The climax of each game always drops the Disney side completely, and while that side of the story is great, it does create this awkward disconnect between story & gameplay, where the levels are focused on Disney, and more or leas absent from the story. Kingdom Hearts 1 probably hit the best balance there, but even then, at the end it was all about Ansem. Maleficent was dealt with, the Princesses of Heart were all good, etc. One of these days I’d love a game that’s a full on Disney RPG. No Final Fantasy, no convoluted non-Disney storyline, just make a new “Sora”, give him/her the Amulet of Avalor as a weapon, and go hunt down Maleficent before she gets the Wicked Nine!

Edited by SancusXenon: 9/18/2018 3:39:05 AMWell fair enough. But the keyblades are dumb. Like, really? Giant keys? I get the whole unlocking worlds and shit, but why do the keys have to be the weapons?
-
I can see why someone might not like it, but personally I thought Keyblades were kinda cool. I don’t mind the whimsey of them. I do think how they transform into speeder bikes is dumb, though..
-
They do what now
-
Aqua, Ventus, and Terra have transformed their Keyblades into speeder bikes. It was before Gummi Ships existed, so they needed a way to cross worlds, and apparently the older keyblade wielders solved this with speeder bikes.
-
I am genuinely lost for words.
-
The story of Birth by Sleep itself is pretty awesome, but every time they pulled out their speeder, I just had to roll my eyes..
-
Why not? In the anime FLCL everyone fights with electric guitars. Tira from the soul calibur series fights with a bladed hula hoop.
-
And those both are just as dumb
-
What about in 358/2 days when Roxas isn’t allowed to get involved with them? Those are just the plots in the individual worlds, the overall plot isn’t Disney related at all. Xehanort is not a Disney character
-
If it actually had it's own proper plot, it wouldn't even need to go to disney properties. It'd be able to be contained in it's own world.
-
It does have it’s own worlds. Twilight town, castle oblivion, hollow bastion/radiant garden, traverse town (though idk what happened to that in the story), the world that never was, and more. The plot is meant to tie in with the plots in the Disney worlds. That’s what happens when Disney makes a game. If you don’t like it just don’t play it
-
As far as I know, Traverse Town still exists, but nothing of note really happens to it. It’s essentially a refugee camp.
