Typical Destiny Players

So, I've been around since the beginning and this trend has always bothered me. In a world that basically has written off Destiny, you would think that its fanbase would be a welcoming community. Nope. Since D1, this fanbase has always maintained that aura of elitist gamer. It is not evident more than on the recruitment side of this app. Everywhere you go, whether it be for NF or Raids or Escalation Protocol or even the new "secret" mission to earn the Black Spindle 2.0, every single post says something to the effect of "must know what to do". Hell, even the legacy posts recruiting for D1 have the same elitist entitlement about them. I attempted to join a fireteam the other day to run Spire of Stars, but because I have never done it before, I was removed from the fireteam. Check my stats! I know what I'm doing in most cases and I'm a fast learner. That didn't seem to matter though because I didn't have 20+ completions, in sure. Since when has completions or weapons equaled experience? It's the Gjallarhorn debacle all over again, except turned up to the max. What happened to this community? People used to be willing to help gamers along. Now, it seems if you're not "experienced" aka don't have the required gear, you're not good enough. This community went from calling new gamers "kinderguardians" to "blueberries". I must've not gotten the memo, but I don't remember when we were supposed to segregate ourselves. It's a pretty sad day when reddit is the place to turn to for reliable accepting people over this community. TL:DR - This community has an "elitist" problem here. Instead of helping people, they shun.

  • Join an active, healthy, friendly clan, that's all I can say. There's a lot of toxic people out there, but healthy clans tend to weed them out. If you are looking for a casual PS4 D1 & D2 clan, the clan I'm a part of is fairly active with players helping each other out. Friendly folks, fairly evenly split between Europe and US time zones, no egos or toxic behavior. We always run close to maximum members, so if you request and it says we are full, try back in a couple days as I prune out inactive members every week.
