Downside of Power Advantages in Trials and Iron Banner

I don't want Level Advantages at all in PvP

I recently posted a similar thread a couple days ago asking the positives of Power Advantages in Trials and IB. All I got was "So Power Level matters in PvP." After talking to some friends and other people that played these activities frequently in D1, that's really all I got out of them as well. - Why is that such a big deal? "It makes Power Level matter in PvP!". That's why you play Destiny? Power Level? Not the gameplay like every other PvP game? That's why some people stop playing after they hit max level, I guess... - There's going to be a significant increase in Level and Power Level ONLY in the Forsaken expansion. Does that mean the players who don't get the expansion are at a huge disadvantage already, or are they even basically locked out of these activities then? - From my point of view, someone who rarely plays PvP but would eventually like to enjoy it, it seems like that puts Players at a disadvantage unless they play the game and it's endgame activities regularly. In that aspect of gameplay it should be "casualized". You should be put at an even playing field against a team. A player with more skill than another should not be at a disadvantage just because his/her Power Level is lower than the other. A player with less skill than another should not have the upper hand just because they have friends/group that help them through raids and etc. every week. - I really don't see any concrete pros to this. You want everyone to enjoy said content, but the upper % of players will always have a handicap in their favor. How is that reasonable? - I will benefit from these changes as I play the game and activities almost every day, but it just seems so cheap.

  • Power should matter in Crucible. In all match types. Provided you can grind to max power level in Crucible matches what's wrong with that? It's like you're saying you'd like to do well in raids before you have the gear and your character is leveled up. In a gear based game like Destiny skill should matter at max level, but a low level guardian should be at a disadvantage compared to a higher level one. And the game is certainly capable of matchmaking kindergardians with other kinderguardians while they build their character. However Bungie knows that many Crucible players are not inclined to put the time in to level up characters but want to see instant results out of the character creation screen. Hence Crucible has always had power does not matter modes to accommodate these players.
