Prophecy Weapon Flavor Text Analysis (Primary Weapons)

<Welcome to another addition to my collection... of random shit. We are going to analyze the Curse of Osiris prophecy weapons... the flavor text. Not the lore tabs. I mean the cryptic shit.
To Tower comes a war in red; an orphan sounds the empire's call. Mortal angels mourn the dead while lightless light wraps night in pall.
- The Conqueror 2 This is the easiest one to explain. It's talking about the Red War. Ghaul was an orphan. Mortal angels refer to us, Guardians. Lightless light may be referring to many different things, but I'm just going to say it's the shit we get from the Shard.
Two siblings cleaved by time and space, reflections never found alone, The ending of the eldritch race—a path long seen but never known.
- Garden Progeny 1 OK... this one has a lot to unpack. I'm 75% sure this is talking about the Light and the Darkness. But why? Well, we all know what a reflection is, right? We all know the Traveler has a dark version of itself. What would "never found alone" mean? Well, it's self-explanatory when you think about it. The Darkness has a ton of minions, including the Hive, while the Traveler has humanity. Even Rasputin says that the "Gardener did not shrug and make herself alone" in one of the Grimoire Cards describing the Collapse. What is the Eldritch race? Well eldritch means weird, sinister, of ghostly. When Cayde-6 has a vision of the Collapse, he describes shadowy figures. That's ghostly. However, it doesn't have to be ghostly (or just ghostly), it can also be sinister. The Darkness's philosophy is that if you aren't strong enough to defend yourself, you deserve death. Many species would consider that quite evil, especially since the Darkness typically has an unfair advantage. A path long seen and never known could be referring to the ending of all of this. All things must come to an end... but the paracausal forces of old never go away, do they?
A charnel but effulgent orb—beacon in a loathsome dark— Fêted, fetid corpses rise—a too-long-absent gibbous spark.
- Machina Dei 4 The word charnel means associated with death. Effulgent means shining brightly or radiant. This "Effultgent Orb" is the Traveler. A shining light in a "loathsome dark"... Fêted is past tense of fête, which means to honor or entertain someone lavishly. Fetid means smelling extremely unpleasant. Gibbous, when not referring to a moon, means protuberant... which means "protruding; bulging." Funnily enough, I have no idea what that last line is trying to say. Is it talking about Guardians and how we were resurrected after being long dead?
A spark of knowledge with each fall, the purpose of the endless youth. No longer shunned, dark's nameless call now brings about tenebrous truth.
- West of Sunfall 7 Well here we are... things are getting harder and harder to analyze. So what does this mean? I'm going to do the second statement first... "no longer shunned". The Dark's nameless call brings about a {dark, shadowy, or obscure} truth. Now here's the thing... that second line could refer to Osiris. Osiris has been right in a lot of things and has been very... persistent in getting his word out. The Speaker and by extension, the City, shunned him. Ikora doesn't hate him anymore, and now the City's best Guardian got into the mix, so would he still be shunned? Would people even remember or care after the Red War? It could also be the actual Darkness revealing what it and the Traveler is. Why the Traveler never wanted to wake up... but would the Darkness be accepted? It's possible that the first line refers to the Traveler learning after every civilization it leaves. The Traveler sacrificed itself here, so something must've changed because it's been running from the Hive and Darkness for centuries now. So that's all I can come up with... leave thoughts or whatever below. Please clap...>

  • A wizard that came from the Moon once told me that we were the same, Guardian and Hive.

I think there is still a lot of clues to be figured out in these prophecies. I'd offer that rather than separate the prophecies by energy and kinetic, it would be best consolidated in one as there is chronology it seems in the entries, or at least implied. Might draw additional info if all in one post. Good post though! http://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/travelers-judgment-5 If prophecies 1-5 are past tense, it would seem that 6-10 are future tense and are possible insight into future story arcs. Regarding prophecy 7
A spark of knowledge with each fall, the purpose of the endless youth. No longer shunned, dark's nameless call now brings about tenebrous truth
First two lines, I'd say it's about thantonauts, like Ikora here in this D2 card: http://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/ikoras-resolve?highlight=Ikora Through death and resurrection, the reason behind the light (endless youth) and guardians nature will be discovered. And in that, the yin and yang nature of light and dark. As we come to understand our light and it's true nature, we will also discover the as yet nameless dark (likely the triangle ships), and the truth: the dark is coming for real http://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/eye-of-another-world?highlight=Light And we are going to have to give up our light and the gifts of the traveler permanently to stop it: http://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/symmetry-flight?highlight=Light

      • Interesting post however I feel like I have completely different opinions on some of the translations. Also I used to love the bits of story and lore but now I feel like it just has no real depth or possible continuity anymore. Always enjoy reading your posts though, keep it up

      • Machine dei 4's last sentence could be that we were dead, and it uses us as it's tool, or just something it enjoys to use.
