Is boosting allowed?

I've run into a fair amount of people claiming to be boosted and a few claiming to be boosters. and it got me wondering if it's even allowed. And if not, should it be? Obviously there's a difference between letting your friend play for a few matchs verses paying someone to boost your account. So for this question, it's specifically about if paying for boosting is allowed or if it puts your account at risk, and if it doesn't, should it?

Having someone plaing the game as it was intended to boost your level for you isn't against the tos. At the end of the day your just letting someone play the game for you and paying them out of your own pocket in exchange. The confusion lies with the term "boosting" boosting typically means that your level is being raised by mods or in game exploits, paying someone to play if they play as intended is not a problem.

  • A few people seem to be confused about the specifics of what I'm referring when I say "boosting". What I mean by boosting is not playing with people you know, it is not playing with random people who carry you to victory. What I mean is paying someone 'x' amount and having them login as you on their (console/computer) and play for a time to bring you up to a specified level, light level, or for materials or mission completions. And yes this is an actual thing that happens, and yes I do have proof of this being sold online. (it's not hard to find at all just Google it)

  • It is different for each game, typically boosting or carrying people for free is not against any rules, mainly because there really isnt any way to prove this. However for many games payed boosting is not allowed. This can include anything from selling/buying accounts, to buying/selling carries through activities (both multiplayer and campaign). I know that games like league of legends and world of warcraft will ban those that buy/sell accounts, if they can find evidence of the sale/purchase. Games like destiny have it written in their code of conduct that you cannot sell or buy services in the game (carries), but as far as i know they haven't enforced this rule. Most companies just put these rules in for legal reasons, if they say thst real money trades are not allowed then they are not responsible when something goes wrong. As for the question of should it be allowed, i person really dont care. I dont think companies should chage their codes of conduct because it makes perfect sense for them to protect themselves from others peoples decisions. But i really dont care if people want to buy accounts or carries. If people are just that bad at a game or just want to spend a fair amount of money to save time then so be it. It really doesnt effect my gameplay. Some people get mad at those offering to carry people for money, but again i dont really see the problem, it doesnt harm me and if people are willing to pay them then go ahead. I wont be paying anyone for a carry, and i will continue to offer people help without asking for money, but that is me and my decision, and so long as people leave me to my decision then i will leave people to their decision.

  • I used to boost in MW2 when I was younger. I also used to be excited to cheat or hack games. However as I grew up and matured I realized it takes away from the fun factor of games. It also takes away your sense of accomplishment. Those who partake in boosting are hurting themselves. I never see people boost anymore though, it's still a thing?

  • I think it should be allowed, but I think it's stupid because if you're bad enough that you need your stats to be boosted, then once they're boosted they're just going to drop back down..

  • I used to dislike it, now i don't give a shit. If you boost your stats to something great then play like shit i laugh at you. If you boost just to get something like a skin then you're lazy

  • I personally frown upon boosting. For trophies I am okay with it. But to raise stats lose all respect

  • Thought you were talking about Sonic based on the title. Boost is better than Adventure style gameplay, IMO.

  • Depends on the game. Some you will just be despised by the community once your found out and some games will probably ban you. My opinion, just play the game the way it's meant to be played.

Idk how you would keep people from boosting if you're talking about people who let others play on their accounts for them. If you mean classic boosting, as in having a few friends let you continuously kill them then that's already a bannable offense for many games if you get caught. Unless your doing it to get past some bullshit grind, like the void kills requirement in vanilla Destiny, it's a chump move. You didn't earn those stats and it'll be immediately obvious to anybody you play against.

  • Depends on your meaning Allowing others to play on your account - if they do something wrong then it's on you, also you could have your account stolen. Getting friends/other players to let you kill them or them you - classic meaning of booster and can get you reset or banned.

  • It's fine when going for bullshit trophies that pretty much force you to get them because they are mainly luck based. Other than that, seems quite crappy to do. HELP! I can't see replies nor can I edit posts. If anyone know how to fix it, send me a private message.
