Common complaints that aren't really problems.

1. The new weapon system. All it needs is better diversity, and perhaps more weapons like Fighting Lion, which is an exotic Grenade Launcher that can be used in the Energy slot instead of the Heavy slot. It would be nice to see other exotics that are "out of slot" for their type, allowing more build diversity. 2. 4v4 PvP. Some people are going to like this format better, some are going to prefer 6v6. This is an opinion, not a problem. Personally, I can't imagine putting 12 people into the current PvP maps; it would be utter madness! 3. PvP time-to-kill. I'm struggling to understand why anyone would want the D1 time-to-kill back. The longer D2 TTK results in more engaging firefights, the ability to make feints and flanks, and generally more exciting PvP. Regardless, this is again an opinion, not a problem. 4. Nightfall Timers. It's there to keep you from creeping through a Nightfall, playing extremely safe, and thereby trivializing the challenge. As an endgame activity, Nightfall Strikes are supposed to be challenging, and the timer is part of that challenge. There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed -- many of which have been recently acknowledged. The game is indeed far from perfect. But these four specific design decisions aren't likely to change and arguably shouldn't.

  • Refutements: 1. You say we don't need to bring back the first game's weapon system and then advocate for secondary power weapons, but only exotics, removing the exotic slot from primary or power weapons. Two primary weapons doesn't make sense, and the only power weapons you should be using are rocket launchers/swords for maximum effectiveness, making snipers/shotguns obsolete. Also there is already a meta, might as well break it up with random rolls. 2. 4v4 pvp or small player size pvp in general is innately competitive, which is not good for casual pvp, which should not be competitive. This is a problem. 3. If you consider camping and waiting for enemies to push to be "more engaging" I pity you. You can't make flanks without using a high range weapon because of the radar, and pvp is less exciting with less potential for long killstreaks, though I agree feints are viable but were viable in Destiny 1 as well, making your argument against bringing back D1 ttk obsolete. This is a problem, not an opinion. 4. While the timer does make the nightfall harder, it is probably the best way to prevent people from soloing the nightfall. A vast minority of players enjoyed moving through the nightfall on their own and dealing with the challenges in their own way as well, and the timer simply cuts away lots of people's play-styles while also punishing solo players. Bungie could make the nightfall challenging in other ways (I'd rather have the hard reset on death). The only issues addressed were exotic duplicates(not legendary duplicates?), a temporary fix for vendor's RNG loot, and private matches for pvp. Everything else was quality of life, which are just opinions held by the entire community. Few of the issues with this game have been acknowledged (and fewer in full), and people like you enjoy the second game more while I enjoyed the first, but sadly, don't have the first on PC, nor would it feel rewarding to play at this point because of the dead player count. These four specific design decisions aren't likely to change, and, as outlined above, arguably should.
