Every Enemy Race has a Lore Reason for Changing Looks/Armor from D1-2

<Startup>|<Post>|<Category:Lore> <INITIATE> So, each enemy race, despite the countless number of people saying they are reskins (when only a few are actually true) each changed from D1 to D2. And each actually have a lore reason for doing so. Let's start with the easy ones. Taken have had no physical change, so this is a reskin. It makes sense because the Taken haven't changed since D1. The main difference between D1 and D2 Taken is that D2 Taken have improved eye graphics and are much darker, with the white only coming in at the feet instead of starting at the lower leg. Cabal. Simple, new Legion, new tech, new armor. Hive. New brood, new look, new Wizards that still -blam!- you even though they're across the map and new Knights that still -blam!- you over with Boomers. Shriekers also have a physical crit-spot while it was just an orb of Void energy in D1. It looks much more like an eye now. Fallen. New House, new gear and markings. So... why less armor? Perhaps they needed the cloth or maybe they wanted to distinguish themselves. Maybe they wanted to remind themselves of their older selves... or perhaps we simply took too much of their gear. Maybe the Splicers did a number on their supplies. Vex. This one is tricky. Besides their chestplates, shoulder pads, and thighs, their really isn't much of a difference. Also, with the reintroduction of the Precursors and Descendants, they have been made to fit the new modern Vex models. So... this one is more speculative as the outside-lore reason may simply be just to distinguish D1 models from D2 models. So... maybe they simply upgraded. Maybe they found their older models obsolete. Perhaps the older ones couldn't put up with us as much as the newer ones can. Maybe they found the Cabal to be an enemy worthy of a chassis upgrade. However, none of this explains why the Vex look worse overtime. Now that we know that CoO's storyline is based off a Vex-supreme future caused by their newfound ability to see and possibly simulate Light, why do the Descendants still look... rusted... worn... Granted they look a lot smoother than they did in D1, at least from the footage I saw, but why downgrade? Why not stay Pristine White and Gold? Leave your thoughts below. <Lore Post>|<Completion>|<100%> <END SEQUENCE>

  • Yeah the Fallen are at the weakest they've ever been and fight like cornered animals. The old Houses have been disbanded and all Fallen have banded together to this new House of Dusk. They're scraping together whatever arms and ammunition they can, scraping up whatever ether they can. Stupid bastards still trying to oppose humanity though. It will lead to their extinction if they don't wise up and realize that fact.

    • It would've been nice to have had some new grimoire cards that gave us some stories regarding the changes we see...

    • The Descendants were old and rusty even in D1, you’re thinking of the Precursors which will still have the sleek white and gold look in D2. Bungie doesn’t seemed to have changed the look of these two groups much like they did with the more present-time Vex models The Fallen have less armor because (if u pay attention to enemy titles, a few dialogue snippets, and a couple scannables) they Fallen are actually extremely weak and low on resources now. They all banded together but are scraping the bottom of the barrel and devoting all resources to recovering old supplies or stealing new supplies. They don’t have enough armor to go around so they’re a lot like how the Exiles were in D1 (threadbare cloth, little armor, struggling for a foothold, undernourished, barely surviving) I believe that one Vex from Venus (the gold one in the tree where Xûr appeared on Nessus) actually had the old D1 look, so maybe it’s supposed to be like only these Vex from Nessus and Io have the new models? There really isn’t an explanation I know, so it’s probably just Bungie reskinning. But I guess if u want to just come up with an answer we can say the Vex either adapted their models or some from a different time popped up (the Vex can probably switch out older forces for newer forces in a short amount of time due to their ease with time travel)

      • 1: How is something a reskin that hasn't changed at all? 2: Descendents are not Vex made in the future. Descendents are old Vex that have survived for so long they live in the future.

          • Precursors are white and gold, descendants are dark. Maybe the Vex's intentions changed over time, and with that so did their aesthetic?

          • Guessing BigHatLogan style Vex are the original constructs that figured out the time shenanigans. While the Sparklesparkles are the end game....and they're in the past trying to muck shit up. That or they're trying to see how far they can get with budget cuts?

The thing is they expect the community to come out with an explanation, instead of having a well written story with in-depth explanations

In the company world it is fast, easy, and cheap to reskin current assets and just throw in some lore changes.

              • Ever since D1, I thought the descendants looked a tad more organic than the other vex. The reason being is their eyes. If you start with the precursors and move your way down the timeline of vex chassis, they go from mechanical slits, to red eyes, to white (radiolaria?) hazelnut shaped eyes. I used to think that because the vex are so mechanical, they didn't fit into the organic universe, which is why they want to terraform everything into their image. That way, they would be the true, undisputed "organics" of the universe. Everything would be vex and the vex would be everything. Of course, now I know that the vex are actually a liquid race/being, so I don't know how much water this theory holds anymore.

              • The vex on nessus and io are simply of a different directive. The vex we saw in d1 varied greatly as well.

Hey, I believe the fallen colors represent the queens brother. His man colors are the same as the fallen and last we heard of him he was trying to rise through the ranks of the Kings to become Arcon Priest. The armor though is a tad weird, I would think that they would want more armor. It occurred to me that the fallen has started fighting for their lives however, we have targeted them so much that they fear for their young. They said something along the line of killing them through starvation because we have destroyed many of this servitors. As for the vex, my guess is as good as yours, no idea.
