Destiny2 crashes on startup

BattleTag Serene#1233 Configuration Info CPU:Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz GPU:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 RAM: 16 GB useable GPU Driver Version: 388.00 Operating System:Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 https://pastebin.com/gsGDUEA0 Issue Information Destination/Activity: Destiny2/launch Description: When I press the play button, what I assume is the game window opens. It creates a black screen and windows informs me that the game has crashed. With regards to the CXVARS.xml file. Destiny2 is not creating this file for me, possibly because the game doesn't actually launch, so nothing to delete there. Help would be appreciated. edit: have tried uninstalling and reinstalling have updated drivers. have uninstalled and resinstalled drivers have restarted my computer. Some have suggested that perhaps starting the game in windowed mode would help (as there appear to be issues between transitions in fullscreen mod), but as I cannot start the game, I cannot change that setting. One suggestion was to hit alt-enter to take it to windowed mode, but the black screen shows up with the crash simulataneously for me. I can't find any relevant command line arguments. Having someone else launch the game, set their preference to windowed mode, and then sending me a copy of the config file also did nothing. Edit again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZqZhCS-Drw&feature=youtu.be 1.) I installed the new driver for my GeForce video card and rebooted. The game loads now. I guess there was a significant change in the program startup routine since the beta version. 2.) If that does not work, another step you may try is copying the file "GFSDK_Aftermath_lib.dll" from your "Destiny 2\bin\x64\" directory to the "Destiny 2" directory. I didn't need to do this, but others have reported success with this workaround. I believe the default install path is: C:\Program Files\Destiny 2\

  • The copy of the .dll worked for me, thanks! Windows 8.1, same case of black screen, no files were generated by the game

I have similar problem and also have similar computer. This is very frustrating because it worked for a day. Then the hot fix patch kicked in, and the game freezes after 1 minute of playing. I tried the second solution, and it gave me 1 more minute of playing. Mine freezes completely for 10 seconds and exits me to desktop. Something is triggering it to stop the game. Oddly enough, this game worked fine in beta. How did it break?

_________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE: I've fixed the problem. I bought a new SSD and installed Windows 10 on it and also Battle.net. The game is on the same SSD as before and I linked Battle.net to the game. So everything is the same except I changed from Win 8.1 to a brand new Installation of Windows 10. This basically fixed the crashes for me. I can play hours without crashing now. Thank god. _________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________ Same Problem for me. I can play about 1 hour and then the game freezes and after about 10secs it closes completely and says "Destiny2 has stopped working". And sometimes it says something like "Data could not be synchronized. Please close the Game and Scan and Repair it". This is really annoying when you play alone and you cant rejoin like you could when you're in a fireteam. I've lost so much time because of these crashes. Also my fps suffers after a few minutes of playing. After a new start of the game its so smooth, I wish it could be like that all the time. I tried scanning and repairing the game but it always says "No repair needed" after the scan. I reinstalled the game. Next thing im gonna do is delet this CVARS.xml but i doubt that this would help because after the reinstallation it should be a fresh file anyways.
