Don't the rewards just go to your Post Office Box if you fail to gather them?
Im not saying the guys aren't d-bags for doing it. Or that it's stupid that it's possible.
Just that if it goes to the PO then is it that big of a deal?

Nope, if you do not open the chest, then you do not claim rewards. So if the chest is knocked off the map, then there is no way to claim the rewards in the chest.

Wrong. I had a guy knock a chest off the other day, and the rewards were waiting in my postmaster, legendary engram included.

It's doesn't always happen. People have done it to me on titan a few times and the rewards were not at the post master.
