The Role of Energy Weapons

So in Destiny 2, what we once called 'special' weapons has now been replaced by the Energy Weapons category. With the former Specials (shotguns, snipers, fusions) being moved into the Power(Heavy) category. I'm feeling that this change needs a slight rebalancing... from a PvE perspective So, Our two main weapons slots, Kinetic (primary) and Energy (special) feel like they don't have much Differentiation. Sure, the Energy category has elemental damage, but in-practice burns don't seem to really matter. Instead, I treat both as "primary" with one slot being a Long Range weapon, and the other being a Close Range crowd control weapon. (Scout and Auto for example) And switch based on Range, not damage type. This introduces a New Problem for D2: Running out of ammo, in particular I tend to run out on the Special side during regular Patrol Activities, since that's my scout rifle. It seems like, even though the weapon slots have been rebalanced to no longer be an OP "special" slot, the old ammo economy from D1 is still in place. May I Suggest: since both Kinetic and Energy slots are in practice on equal footing as basic bread+butter weapons; that they Share a Single Large Ammunition Pool. Not separate white and green bricks, but a single light green ammo brick.
