Brilliant post! I also think the power of the gear is very low. One of the main things that made year 1 Destiny so good is the fact that exotics were one of a very limited amount of ways to reach max rank. Now that infusion is a thing, I think this should happen again.

I think the items being 270 is fine now that guided games exist. 270 gets you into every activity including the raids.
