The Reach forum and its opinions.

I created this thread today, in order to help the inhabitants of the Reach forum (that's you), develop a more intelligent, respectable, and not retarded opinion of the game we all love / hate (that's me) / are indifferent to.

Here are some examples of good and bad ways of stating your opinions:

(A1) Like the game - Non retarded opinion:
I know this game has some issues that could definitely use some fixing, but I still think the game is lots of fun to play.
(A2) Like the game - Retarded opinion:
This game is absolutely perfect. There is nothing wrong with it. You just hate it because you suck! Learn to counter Armor Lock and pace your shots. Adapt! As a side note, I would like to point out that every word in the above opinion can be replaced with the word "derp" and still sound a goodly amount more intelligent than it previously did. Also note that the above opinion would most likely contain many grammatical errors.
(B1) Hate the game - Non inflammatory opinion:
I really don't like how this game turned out. The gameplay is just too random and slow-paced to enjoy. I just don't find it enjoyable like I did past Halo games.
(B2) Hate the game - Inflammatory opinion:
This game sucks! The only people who like this game are garbage Staff Captains from Halo 3 who couldn't use the BR to save their pathetic life! As another side note, I would like to say that I personally find this opinion to bring in hilarious replies, even though it's not exactly the best way to have an intelligent conversation with someone. I also think that it's a fairly accurate opinion, I do however try and put it in a slightly less inflammatory manor though. Go ahead . . . call me biased. :P
Conclusion:
I personally am a B1, who respectfully disagrees with A1s. This is how I think this forum should operate. Respect each others opinions! Don't be an A2! B2s are hilarious, but yeah, I only recommend being a B2 to an A2 . . . the A2s deserve it. I would like to add that it is pretty entertaining watching A2s have a huge flamewar with B2s though. PS: If you're confused about what I'm talking about when I say A1, A2, etc, then please note the way it says A1, A2, etc, in front of each type of opinion. TL;DR: Lol, nope. •
Posted by: DARK4NGEL BR Spread To clear 1 thing up. For the BR in H3 you had to lead your shots. The BR spread is nowhere near as bad as many people made out, they just never lead their shots properly. Armour abilities Secondly, the reason a lot of players don't like armour abillities is because a) they negate the need for map control (Jet-pack, Sprint, Evade), they slow down gameplay (Armour Lock, Drop shield, Hologram) and make it far too easy to disengage from a battle and wait for help (All of the above). Bloom Bloom in games normally does increase the skill gap but on reach it did not. Reasons for this: >During movement bloom does not expand, the only thing that affects it is crouching. If you jump with a gun, you should expect it to be a lot harder to aim than when you fire a single shot. >Bloom does not expand enough, this means players can just spam and the majority of the time get the kill. >Most games with bloom have a headshot give extra damage. This only happens on halo with no shields. I agreed with that on previous halo titles as there was no bloom so it was easier to aim but if they increased the bloom on this (similar to the rifle on shadowrun) they should up the damage for headshots making a kill possible in 3 shots. >Bloom is affected heavily by connection. When a player is on host, it is much easier to spam and get a 5 shot than for the opponent. Host should have a slight increase to bloom size co compensate for this. Ranking system Halo 3s ranking system was far from perfect. There were players boosting the levels due to the way the win loss effected leveling up. However the reach system is barely a ranking system. It seemingly only works for slayer gametypes and pretty much anyone who was above a 40 in H3 can get onyx. Onyx was supposed to be for the top 5% of players and seeing as on H3 the average level was 30 It should have been the brigadiers and generals only ever getting within onyx. They also made it so you would have to continue playing for your rank although I don't see why. Maybe if you got onyx in one season and then still had it in the next, but then had to play to keep it that would be OK but playing from the bottom each time is incredibly stupid. Maps The maps on halo 3 were a step down from halo 2 but there were still a few gems especially once the sandbox and foundry came in. This is largely due to the fact that bungie actually made the maps from the ground up for multiplayer rather than lifting them from the campaign as an afterthought. The forge is arguably worse due to the fact that any map made within forge has no character. Theatre Theatre on halo 3 was used largely by the competitive community so that they could go over their games as teams and build upon their teamwork by seeing what they did wrong and take measures to stop that happening. With the removal of watching films in parties it made it much harder to share you in-game moments and the majority of competitive players stopped all together. This can be demonstrated by the H3 MLG population when it was first released H3 had more than 20,000 gamers at all times in MLG whereas reach struggles to hit 1000 when not at peak times even though millions more xboxs have been sold since 2007.
Sweet wall, man! I 100% agree!
