Before I Was a Guardian, I Was a Spartan.

We are days away from the launch of Destiny 2 and so it seems like a time for reflection. In 2007 I bought Halo 3 the day of launch and about a year and a half later I got an Xbox 360 and Xbox Live (yes you read that right). I had been playing since CE but I had never interacted with people online before, so as time went on I began to make some online friends and eventually one recommended I check out my stats on bungie.net. I created an account not knowing that bungie.net had forums. Then, Reach came out and I got really into clans in an attempt to make some friends I could play with on a consistent basis. Around this time I also began posting on the forums, and earning some sweet bans, and I stumbled upon a group called "Chapter". This is really where the story of this community began for me. This group quickly became the people I played with most often and I felt like they were becoming my close friends. It was then that I realized that people online can actually become real friends. I cared, still do, about them, their life, and what was going on. Halo brought me closer to these people and it was an incredible experience. Then, Destiny was coming. This expanded the community from long-time Halo/Xbox fans to multi-console users and with this came a lot more friends. Destiny brought people together and I have made amazing friends because of it. Now, nearing Destiny 2 our community is even larger and perhaps the largest it has ever been. This is what this thread is really about: with the approach of Destiny 2 do not be afraid to immerse yourself in the community. Don't just find people to play with, find friends. Find people with similar interests and don't be scared to call them friends. The people you play with may become some of the best friends you ever have and then maybe in 5 years you can thank Destiny 2 for bringing you together. Forge legendary friendships, Guardians. Best of luck in D2.
