Either give us a 4th weapon or return special weapons

Having to reload 4 times to take down one shielded enemy sucks. I would rather be able to use my primary for nuisance enemies, a special weapon for majors and a heavy weapon for mobs/ ultras / bosses. It feels like you took away our ability to excel individually in Destiny 2, which was my favorite part of Destiny 1 (feeling like a war machine). Edit: Suggestion to fix
D1 special weapons as "Power Weapons" don't feel like heavy weapons. A sniper rifle is not a Gjallarhorn. A shotgun is not a rocket launcher. A fusion rifle is not Sleeper Simulant. They feel out of place. Return the weapons to the original state. Primary, special and heavy. In the primary slot, include a second space for an additional primary. When your primary is equipped, you use a spare bumper, a joy stick or button to switch between the two. I use Cold Shoulder for my button mapping and LB is currently unassigned. When my primary is equipped, I can use LB to switch between the two. Or, when my secondary or heavy is equipped, I can also hit LB to find my primary, the same as with Y (I play on Xbox, so Y). Both primary weapons should have the option of an element. Give us an incentive to use kinetic over elemental. Have kinetic do extra damage to non-shielded enemies and elemental deal bonus to shielded. Include enemies with kinetic shields, like in the Court of Oryx. Crucible no longer receives heavy ammo. Special ammo is treated as power ammo is in the beta. This allows for more interesting boss fights and more flexibility with enemies overall in the PvE realm. I believe it may also be better for PvP in some way. PvP is not my main focus, so that may be wrong. Anyhow, that's what I would like to see.
• Agree....but its not going to happen even if every single person in this forum agreed, they would just say "the chickens have realistic moving legs....etc" I am getting it because I'll enjoy it and give me a week and ill forget about the slots because you get used to what you use. Btw I'm not having a go totally get why your posting but I think we all have to realise the only people listening are the other people on the forum.....

    • Double primaries?why? It is the worst idea ever in the history of ideas. I will cancel my preorder if not fixed. Your well on your way to becoming The Division, dead within 6 months.

      • Honestly you are completely right. Imo I feel like I just shoot until the primary runs out then I switch, fire until dry, and repeat. Reading what you wrote also makes me think of a name for this little idea, "Weapon priority."

Agreed... this new weapon system isn't great. I like it on paper, but it's not working properly Seems like Destiny 1 PVP is gonna ruin our Destiny 2 PVE experience :( With putting shotguns and snipers in power weapons, they're basically taking away our option to have different playstyles... We're not gonna get enough ammo to keep a long distance playstyle going, nor the super agressive style a shotgun offers... sure auto rifles, pulse rifles and handcannons are good at close range agressive play... but they're stil VERY different from shotguns If people can't play the way the feel like playing, they might be inclined to not play at all That was one of the things I really loved about D1... No matter what kind of playstyle mood I was in... I could do it, and all of them felt great. Now everything will be medium to closerange... even scout rifles aren't REALLY long range weapons Please do something Bungie Either nerf the guns (or not) and put them back in primary slots Give us an extra slot Make those specific weapons have different damage scaling towards guardians so the PVP problem isn't there... Just do something... I was hyped as hell for Destiny on PC... and now I'm not so sure anymore. And if I'm not even hyped anymore... how am I gonna sell it to my friends who wasn't really hype to begin with? EDIT: Also what @RobbieG205 says in this thread, is pretty much the PERFECT solution if you ask me

            • The new weapon system feels broken. The old style of primary, secondary, and heavy made more sense. The addition of new weapon types, like SMG is fine. However the fact that fusion, rocket launcher, sniper, shotgun, grenade launchers all share the same slot is not a great balance to the game. Add in that has been confirmed that certain activities will lock load outs, and it makes no sense. This feels like a move without any real thought behind it, just like when elemental primaries were taken away but shielded enemies were increased. The weapon system was fine the way it was, why mess with something was already very good? I understand a new game will bring changes, but this weapon system lacks compared to D1.

            • Bump.......The old weapon slots were better. This is just another example of Bungie bowing to the PvP whiners who got the special weapons ammo nerf into the game. Whine whine I just keep getting killed by shotguns. I have a shotgun but I don't know how to use it whine whine. I don't see how a rocket launcher, shotgun, grenade launcher, sniper rifle and, fusion rifle are all in the same category.....Are machine guns gone or just not in the beta? As an almost daily destiny player the beta has left me disappointed. Hopefully the full game won't.

2 primaries may go down as the worst gaming change in video game history. Epic epic epic bungie fail. Honestly whoever was on this train at bungie should be fired and blacklisted from making a game ever again.

                • Well. No. The issue is that things like shitguns and fusion rifles should have been rolled into and balanced as primary weapons. A shitgun is effective at between 50 and 200 yards depending on shot... Side arms for point blank range, hand cannons and auto rifles for close range, shotguns and pulse rifles for mid range, then fusion and scout rifles for long range, where in a fusion rifle recharges after each shot it does a significant amount of critical damage (ie linear rifles).. The crit shot is not enough to instantly kill a guardian which means you have to fire, land that crit, then switch to a secondary weapon to polish them off, the complication would be difficult to master so it would be rare in crucible. Each of these can be kinetic except for the fusion rifle which can only fire energy rounds. You could also have an alternate fusion rifle that can be fired at high speed like a sidearm or instead hold down the trigger to charge and fire an slower moving high energy burst that doesn't do crit damage but kicks like a mule, then you can follow up with a few light shots to maybe put the target down without changing weapons.... Maybe charged shot does a small AOE explosion which would be more useful for pve... Then in powered you have your rpg, your thumper, your heavy rifle, and heavy fusion cannon, some fusion cannons can be equipped to fore a beam at long range instead of a burst. And of course, the sword. Swords however should recharge them selves outside of crucible. Hell, with the current meta I'm not sure a sword would even be worth using in crucible. All of these need to be treated as immensely powerful weapons for major threats..

                  • It has already been stated by Bungie that this is an old build and that they found the exact same issues we are seeing as well, and it has been corrected in the current build they are testing. Have faith. This is a beta. Or just whine, complain and throw a tantrum then cancel your pre-order. What ever suits your boat.

                    • I certainly don't miss dying by 1 trick shotgun ponies In halo sniper/shotgun is considered a power weapon. You literally have to fight for them. People die trying to secure power weapons, so why should we spawn with them?

                      • I like the slots set up, but I do think more power ammo drops would be appropriate in PVE. I am glad they are adjusting that as we speak. My fear is bringing up weapon power or bringing down enemy health will make the PVE too easy. I don't want to be able to kill a boss or ultra with a grenade and a super. I want it to be challenging and difficult and take time. At the same time, I DON'T want to run out of ammo so more/better ammo drops works. Maybe making ability charges a touch quicker would be nice, but in PVE only!

Keep in mind that the beta weapons are really basic (not including excotics). The final game might have those more special ones, that have better perks for more dmg. I also think that they might make it easier to kill shielded enemies, because right now they are pretty hard to kill.

                          • I thought I would hate the new system and it turns out I find it enjoyable. I've solo'd the struck a few times due to people being AFK or what ever other reason. I found that for the most part the slots represent right tool for the right job. Breaking shields felt much easier than in D1 after the initial elemental nerf. Though the sniper does feel weak. I almost feel like I'm playing a different beta than everyone else. The complaints people have I'm just not seeing. Mob health seems okay to me. Ammo drop rates are about the only thing I would complain about. Though I'd like to see nova bomb lose collision detection if it's gonna stay that slow. Watched a player kite a nova bomb for 15+ seconds and then use a wall to kill it. For how slow supers recharge seems nova bomb is the only super you can successfully get away from with moderate to no skill
