First impressions of the Destiny 2 beta

So far, I've played PvE alone. All activities on only new subclasses, except for Inverted Spire with the Arcstrider. The Good: Just about everything that shone in the first game shines here - the gunplay, the space magic, the art, the music. I like the incredibly intense opening, I like the story mission matchmaking (is that going to be a thing for them? :O :D ), I like seeing characters in gameplay. I like the new subclasses, by and large. The new aesthetics are gorgeous, especially the ships, orbit screen, and interplanetary flight. I like the moving hazards in the missions. I like the new enemy types, and the revamped old ones. I like that many of the superb weapon animations and enemy audio remain untouched. I'm intrigued by weapon mods, especially if you can detach elemental damage. Maybe it's just me as an amateur author, but I noticed a neat moment of characterisation, when Ikora is more focused on the Traveller than anything else. The Bad: It's not going to happen in the final game, obviously, but not having loot drop is sad. I find turning initially very stiff, but ok after a moment. As a Titan, having an HMG as a primary (Kinetic, watevz) and holding triangle for a Shotgun is will take getting used to. Supers seem to be charging much too slowly, and run out way too quickly. I think it would be ideal if the radar or another HUD element told you about an ally's Barrier or Rift, so you could make use of it too. No social space yet (and I'm at work for the sole hour that it's active, damnit). No character creation. I was looking forward to recreating my beloved D1 Guardians. And seeing nothing but helmets on the Farm in trailers worries me. Though I've seen a helmet-free male human in a cutscene with Ikora. And they need to speak. Grenade Launchers seem harder to aim than I expected. The controls for the new Supers could be better explained on the menu. The flamethrower hitboxes on the Cabal seem way too hard to hit. Perhaps they're only meant to detonate once they're dead. That's an awful lot of the subclass customisation out the window. :/ Being unable to replay the opening mission without making a new character seems pretty -blam!-ing stupid. I get that it's meant to be this monumental, irreversible event, but it's also part of a videogame... The Ugly: Ghaul.
