Why does everyone think Raze Lighter is better than Young Wolves Howl?
Yes Raze Lighter does more damage but Young wolves howl gives a Viking funeral effect that stacks with other defuffs like tether and the actual Viking funeral perk.
Just a question.
Have a great day!

Because usually viking funeral is moot on ads. It only matters on bosses. But the time viking funeral take affect, you would have done considerably more damage to the boss with the raze lighter.
-
It doesn't do as much damage and it launches enemies up in the air meaning you can't just spam RT on them like you can with Raze Lighter.
-
5 ammo cheaper per attack.... does more overall

Edited by RichGhost77: 5/29/2017 8:52:07 AMBecause you can melee and grenade your way through most pve content, so it's Irrelevant. 👍

Young wolfs howl can launch certain enemies. Raze lighter does not.
-
Because young wolves howl is just handed out. No real effort needed to attain it. Plus less ammo and a more expensive heavy attack.
-
Go try YWH on the yellow bar knight on IrYut. While your dead, switch to Raze, and then try again.
-
Probably because it used to be wildly innefficient, costing 10 ammo per special attack, and because it carries less ammo than other exotic swords. It is much better now, but the buff went pretty unnoticed because it came with the patch that nerfed so many other popular guns/abilities
-
It's only beneficial to have one person in the group with YWH since it doesn't stack with itself. Also, only good if you have other people doing damage with you. If you're split up it's better to have the higher dps sword(razelighter).
-
I think this is a holdover from before the buff to YWH. I also think the standoff damage capability of Boltcaster is under appreciated. I tried it in Vosik 2 and it worked well for add control and Captain bashing.
-
I think you answered your own question. Damage is a very obvious metric to observe, the potential for debuff combos is much harder to appreciate.
-
The RT attack on young wolfs used to cost 10 ammo or something outrageous, it just wasn't worth it.. other than that? I'm not sure, someone probably did some number crunching and Raze Lighter came out ahead in DPS.
-
Edited by Zelrons: 5/27/2017 4:37:41 PMIt doesn't stack with anything. Razelighter will kill most things on 1-2 hits. Young Wolf's Howl will take 2-3 hits. If not 4 in some cases. It's not usually worth it because enemies don't have enough health for the debuff to matter. The only time it might matter is for bosses and the only boss anyone uses a sword on is Aksis, and it's not Razelighter. YWH also has a nasty habit of literally throwing enemies across the room.
-
Because a sword can kill a major in 1-2 hits, no time for buff anyways and it wont really work out for any raid boss. Also i believe because everyone gets one it feels cheap, you look like a rookie when u run around with that thing.
-
Because razelighter can 1-2 hit pretty much everything. For aksis, it's okay to have one young wolfs howl, but it's useless to have more than one.

Edited by NobodyJustBrad: 5/27/2017 3:17:08 PMIt's because the debuff it provides isn't strong enough to cover YWH's lack of DPS. In the big picture, you'll be doing less damage overall due to the person using YWH sacrificing their DPS time.
