Has there ever been a guardian turn evil?
There's the usual 'the darkness consumed you' screen, but has there ever been in Destiny's history a guardian joining the darkness?
Cuz I would think that a guardian would've had gone through some dark times to be fully submitted by the darkness.
Sorta how Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars joined the darkside. The emperor sold Anakin's mother to the tusken raiders where she was badly treated. Which then resulted in Anakin killing them in revenge for his mother.
And Oryx was probably doing the same with the player during the fight with him in regicide. During the fight, he says "The darkness was a gift to me, let me show you it" or something like that to persuade the player to join the darkness.
A guardian, especially if the guardian were at a young age let's say probably around Anakins age, would have gone through so much stress and trauma to become some what insane and angry.

Now I don't think this guy joined the darkness but the mad guardian that made red death seemed pretty evil. Ya know, after he went batshit crazy from the future war cult device and was banished.

Honestly me and my cousin were talking about this literally the other day they has never been a guardian that has went rouge and why not they have everything else in the game why not let guardians take on a badass rough guardian

Only one that I have heard of is Rezyl Azzir/Dredgen Yor (Look up his back story) everyone else that has come close has only went mad... but not evil! Really think the Dredgen Yor story would make a good comic/animated book with his background story rising as a hero and dying as a proper villain.

I don't think so please let me explain: Now we all know that rezyl lost hope and then became dredgen and used the darkness but, I think he was searching for strong guardians with Strong light to defeat the darkness but he was so wicked that he killed guardians who weren't worthy. In the grimuare he saw something in shin malfur when shin was a kid as he saved his village ...he saw hope Why would dredgen give the last word to shin malfur after he killed his mentor? He wanted that shin become stronger,stronger than himself. And on the showdown between dredgen and shin,dredgen saw the first golden gun and he let shin kill him with the new power,he saw the light again he saw hope Just my silly thoughts sorry for bad English

Anakin Skywalker was actually a creation of the Darkside of the Force...and all Palpatine did was manipulate him into turning away form the Jedi teachings and the Light to free the darkness that was already in side of him. One can argue that Obi-wan briefly touched the darkness in his rage at the death of Qui-gon Jinn....and that power helped him to defeat Darth Maul. But Kenobi quickly pulled back from it. Whereas Anakin was always flirting with the edge of it. From the slaughter of the Raider village that killed his mother....to his often questionable actions during the Clone Wars...and his discussion of Jedi tactics with Tarkin. That the Republic would lose because "It wasn't willing to do whatever was necessary to win". "The Ends Justify The Means" is how evil defends itself to itself.

2 RepliesThere is no direct evidence of any Guardian becoming an agent of Darkness. However, it is heavily indicated that Dredgen Yor might have actually come to do the Darkness' bidding. When the Hive bones Rezyl grafted into Thorn began to taint him with Darkness, he turned his back on the Light and ceased to be a Guardian. According to the perspective of the Shadows of Yor, there is actually a sliver of a chance that Dredgen wasn't working specifically for the Darkness despite his use of some of its practice and hostility towards the ways of the Light. So Dredgen is a maybe Also, according to the few stories we have, the Ahamkara would tell Guardians things that made them doubt the Light, causing many to turn their backs on the Traveler. However, it is highly doubtful that any came to serve the Darkness Toland the Shattered studied the ways of the Darkness and came to be practiced in some of its ways, and Eris through his journals also became like that, but both have proven to be fully supporting of the survival of the Light and destruction of the Darkness. It's one of those "to kill it you must understand it" philosophies As for Oryx's lines, he is trying to Take you. Taking works by converting your will to serve Oryx and the Darkness, so naturally he says things about sharing the Darkness with you and "let my will set you free" (direct quote) as that is how Taking works in his eyes On the note of "The Darkness has consumed you" line, that just means you died in an area rank with Darkness so your Light was snuffed

1 ReplyWhile Dredgen Yor with the thorn was a guardian, it is confirmed in the grumpier that he was no longer a guardian after being consumed by the darkness. His ghost abandoned him so without a ghost, he is not a guardian.
