My list: Gen 1: Mewtwo. My first proper post game capture (I started in XY before anyone asks) and my first level 100. For Ubers, it is solid, but most other battles, it shredded everything else to bits faster then a Shedinja's HP bar upon a hit. Gen 2: Lugia and Suicune. The lore behind these two (and by extension, the rest of the Gen 2 legendaries) are really good, and in battle, Suicune tanks most of the hits thrown at it with the right setup and alongside Ampharos, my duo of Rest Talkers (Rest + Sleep Talk). Although I never used Lugia in battles, I was on the receiving end of its attacks. And I got swept, hard. I would use it if I had the chance. Gen 3: Eon Duo and Rayquaza. Mega Evolution. That is all. Mega Rayquaza was so broken it was banned from Ubers (a tier of banned Pokemon). Yep, banned from the banned tier (yo dawg, we heard you like bans, so we put a ban in your ban so you can have a ban while you have a ban). Just like the Gen 2 legendaries, the lore is really fascinating and Pokemon Heroes: Latios and Latias is a great and emotional movie. Honerable mention to Jirachi, my favourite of the Mythical Pokemon, after seeing it appear through Wonder Trade (I still remember the day I got it), it became a favourite instantly, solid bulk and good attack power meant I won Mythical one-on-ones quite well, it even held up against a Fire-type nicely. It's movie was also extremely light-hearted and fun to watch as well (until THAT fake Groudon appeared) Gen 4: Giritina and Shaymin. In a generation that introduced my favourite Pokemon, Lucario, the legendaries weren't bad either. It was more ACTUAL GODS than anything. But if I had to pick, Giratina and Shaymin would be those picks. From the moment I saw Giratina, I thought it looked extremely cool in Origin form. A monstrous Pokemon in the right hands, the great attack stats (in Origin Form) can potentially lay waste to many Psychic types and possibly other Dragon Types. If it weren't for the fact that it's weak to itself I'd say it's the best Mascot Legendary of the generation. Then we have its movie buddy, Shaymin, cute in Land Form, powerful in Sky form (this form is actually in Ubers, if I'm not mistaken). It may be an Ice magnet, but I can't get over it's cuteness :3 Cross-Gen honerable mention: Victini. Originally meant to be in DPPt, but cut due to time constraints, this little guy has a spot for its ability, Victory Star, borderline guaranteeing hits on targets from it and its allies. Invaluable on a double or triples team. Also if it weren't for this, Rayquaza wouldn't have an event with Victini's unique move, V-Create, making it more OP come ORAS! Gen 5: most of the legendaries. Probably the best time for legendary Pokemon, Tao Trio, Swords of Justice, the Mythicals, EVERYTHING is viable and cool. Although the Forces of Nature broke the VGC meta, (which is kinda uncool if everyone and their mother is using it) the whole generation managed to combine lore, badassery, power and combat effectiveness so effortlessly that if I were to describe it, this bit of text will be longer than Trump's wall! Gen 6: all the legendaries (again) Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diance, Hoopa and Volcanion. 6 extremely solid legendaries and mythicals. The same stuff I said about Gen 5 applies here into this smaller package. Also, Mega Evolution = meta gets changed-up entirely. Oh, and Primal Reversion. Gen 7: wow, they really got the legendaries right 3 generations in a row... and the main legendaries have an evolutionary line. Also, Ultra Beasts. (Solid, but I got nothing else to say).
