You should have received an item in your consumables inventory called a Spark of Light. It can grant [i]one[/i] character level 40. Can you check to see if the Spark of Light is in your inventory or Postmaster?
You can also choose to save the Spark for alternate characters, and you can play normally to level up from 32 to 40.
