KDR vs PTO: What makes you more qualified?

When it comes down to it, some people seem to think if your KDR isn't above positive or some god tier level- your opinion on PvP doesn't matter. I've noticed this on the forums- as well in some Twitch streams. The streamers don't say this, but there audience likes to "If you can't go positive or keep a positive KDR, you have no ground to put any impute on this subject." But here's the thing, most of the Crucible is objective based with it's game modes: That including Control/Zone Control/Combined Arms, Rift, Salvage, Supremacy. You also have your more "Kill your targets" modes such as: Skirmish, Clash, Rumble, Elimination/trials, and Doubles. But then it comes down to the question... what matters more? Kill Death Ratio, or Play The Objective? Personally, in an objective based Game Mode, PTO matters far more than KDR. You get the objective, you win the game. Killing your targets is merely to secure the objective. As long as you get the objective and you can hold it... who cares if you die? You got the objective, you win. You can even go as far to say that the non-objective based modes are still objective based. Your objective? Kill the targets, right? You get the kill... you win, doesn't matter how- could even mean sacrificing yourself as long as you win the match? But when someone mentions about KDR... and that if you don't have a positive KDR, you have no say in how the Crucible works, is that really fair? What if someone is really good at PvP, but there play style involves suicide rushing or being a distraction for the team? Me personally, when I see someone who cares about KDR over PTO, and tells me that I have no say, I see the Blueberries hiding in corners with shotguns waiting for someone to show up for sneaky kills- or the ones who abandon you in a gunfight because they got afraid they may die and ruin there KDR. But this is my question to you, what matters more- Someone with a high Kill Death Ratio, or someone who Plays the Objective?

  • I play the objective and could not give fewer -blam!-s about someone's KD. I also don't care about ELO since I know people the actively farm wins. If you want to know how good someone is or is not, play a few games with them and find out. Watch how someone moves and prioritizes enemies or movements with points on the map. KD is too heavily relied upon. ELO van be farmed. I sacrifice myself a lot to make plays with my teammates, so I don't have a Hella KD, my teams are usually pretty bad, so I don't have a Hella ELO, but because of these two numbers I'm looked upon like a scrubula lol. Just play to have fun.
