Without google, express what you believe quantum mechanics to be, and perhaps why it is important.
Now, as a disclaimer, I'm asking this because I'm genuinely interested in what people have to say. This is a judgement-free thread. There is a range of users here of different age groups who have been exposed to different information. I have chosen to take a path in my life which exposes me to information about this subject, where as others may have not. Others may have, and perhaps they may be far more knowledgeable of the subject than myself. Doesn't matter.
I feel as though quantum mechanics is often regarded as some mysterious unknowable entity of knowledge, or is made out to be something that it is not.
So I want to know what you believe Quantum Mechanics to be. What is it about, why is it a thing, etc.

well looking at the projectory of the moon and the sun I would say it's BS
-
How the hell did that get over here?
-
It's mechanics that happen on a very, very, small level.
-
Basically, the study of Physics at a point where physics breaks down.
-
confusing

Yo momma

Science
Bitch
Basically the inner workings of the universe and shit. I didn't pay enough attention in my science class back in high school. I can't give people a better idea because of this.
-
It's the study of the deepest inner workings of the universe, as far as I've figured out, always procrastinating to Google it.
-
Difficult science stuff that I can't figure out...

Fap material

Edited by fettuccine: 12/17/2016 4:21:11 PMAll I know is that it has some relation to string theory. The strings in question being the ones that make up quantum foam and then those making up quarks which go into Protons and neutrons. That's all I really know. Just the basics, hopefully it's correct to the extent of understanding that I understand that string theory is merely a theory as the name states.

I have no clue but enjoy listening and reading about it

RANDOM SHIT HAPPENING THAT ISN'T RANDOM BUT PRE DETERMINED I F--cking love science

Something that if you think you fully understand it, you know absolutely nothing about. From what I know it a way of trying to explain what and how particles do on the smallest scale. Classic Newtonian physics cant predict what they do. Something like that anyway. If you are interested look up pbs spacetime on YouTube, they have some stuff on it. Very interesting even though I'm not sure what he is saying.

Edited by K_R_A_Z_Y__95: 12/17/2016 7:03:23 AMI'm majoring in engineering but I haven't gotten that far yet, but from what I've seen so far it's things you cannot calculate normally using classical physics, or at least that's what I remember, I could be totally wrong.

What am I now? Uh...stupid? No! I'm quantum mechanics! What's the difference?!?!??!! Hurrhurrhurrhurrhurr
-
If I remember correctly, it is basically the physics of sub atomic particles. Like you can use it to predict where electron will be in the electron cloud. Right?
-
I dont know, something to do with black holes and space stuff.

Mechanics that are Quantum.
The jolliest (and luckiest) seven you will ever meet
The Cellar Door Judgement-free thread.... Does not compute.

Quantum theory???
-
Confusing as dicks unless first experiences through the Feynman Lectures?
-
Tiny thing are complicated and sometimes they help us!

I think it's the study of sub-atomic particles (smaller than electrons and protons) and how they behave, as well as the forces that hold the universe together (strong force and weak force). Also it's the keystone for time travel and faster than light travel in a lot of fiction.

Well, see, there's some stuff here. And some stuff over there. And well, if I move the stuff over here, the other stuff moves over there. I mean, it's not a difficult concept to understand.
