  • You know, except for Congress and the Senate.

  • Which are now under republican control... only to the advantage of the outsider, Donald trump Nobody wants a career politician, and it is much easier to make that contrast on a national scale than it is on a state level

  • Which is why that argument doesn't make a lot of sense. I think a lot of people don't understand what the Senate and Congress do (or rather don't do lately) because if they did people would probably want a lot more outsiders in those roles than one as the Commander and Chief of America. I think this is just a loud and clear sign that people of America have a tenuous grasp on American politics and don't have a clear understanding of the 3 branches of government. Or what the role of the president is for that matter.

I think you're right, people aren't that well educated about the importance of the house/senate/all of the facets of government Some of that is due to disenchantment with government as a whole. There's not enough "outsider" candidates at the state and congressional levels for that to even be a possibility But overwhelmingly speaking nobody wants a career politician in office, and trump's landslide is an indictment on the status quo That being said, I voted a straight democratic ticket lol

If it were true why did multiple Republican incumbents who are useless get re elected? The fact of the matter is that this election showed the world how stupid our population is.

And guess who are the "stupid" people who voted trump? Those who are disenchanted with government as it is lol There's not enough outsiders running at the state level, do you really think all of those "stupid" people were gonna write someone in? And this might be giving those "stupid" people too much credit, but a republican controlled house and senate allow the NON career politician to pass his desired legislation... I'm not disagreeing with you in that this election shows how uneducated people are, but it is what it is... And people have had enough
