RNG in Destiny 2
I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about the RNG loot system and its use in later games. By major items I mean exotics and specific items like raid rewards, and stuff like that. I understand that RNG is supposed to make it fair for everyone since RNG is RNG, but even though it is a fair chance for everyone, there are still many players who might never receive certain item no matter how much they play. I think a better system would be one similar to other games where you have to unlock items through progress and purchase them through in game currency, like legendary marks, strange coins, glimmer, or something new that could be introduced.

I hate RNG in these games. While yes, its fair in the context of everyone has a chance at getting something I find, in practice that it is anything but. For example: a raid takes time and effort and, if the raid is done well be the devs, takes skill to finish and everyone who participates and completes the raid puts in the same amount of time and effort. So why should only one person out of the whole group get the best reward while the rest gets trash? I've done VoG HM several times and never got the Mythoclast but had a guy in my raid group/clan get it three times and I have been in groups with pugs where it was their first or second run on HM and they got it while all I would ever get is shaders, sparrows, and the ship blueprint. I got so many of those that I could have opened a ship and sparrow store and a shader store right next to that. I find RNG to be an outdated and unfun system that doesnt properly reward players for their time or their efforts in game. And for me, whether Destiny 2 has RNG for gear progression or not is the determining factor on if I will buy the game or not.
