And I will laugh about how little you must really know about the Suicide Squad and what they are. The movie was relatively faithful to each character, the plot was simple yet carried enough suspense, and it did what it was supposed to do.

 •
And I will laugh about how little you must really know about the Suicide Squad and what they are.
I know about the Suicide Squad. I was a DC fan as a kid. But it doesn't matter. A good movie would have introduced them properly to general audiences. It wouldn't require the audience to already know who they are and what they're about in order to enjoy the film. These movies are NOT made for comic book fans. They're made for general audiences. If the general audience fails to respond to them, then they have failed as movies.
The movie was relatively faithful to each character, the plot was simple yet carried enough suspense, and it did what it was supposed to do.
What exactly was it supposed to do? Listen. The problem is not the characters. The problem is not even the simple plot. The problem is that these movies are badly made. The pacing is awful, the plot is contrived and difficult to follow in spite of its simplicity, and character motivations are under-examined & never made clear. The story being told isn't the problem; it's just the way the story is told. The characters aren't the problem either; it's just the way the characters are presented to us.
