Bungie, PLEASE bring back Nightfalls!

Bring back the original Nightfall Strikes.

3016

Leave Nightfall Strikes how they are.

Okay, so I've given this spiel multiple times on my stream and last night, I decided I'd just post in the forums about it. So anyone who played Destiny during Y1 will remember how great Nightfall Strikes used to be. It pains me to see the condition in which the Nightfall Strikes of Y2 Destiny are in, because I know very few people who still actually complete the Nightfall each week. During Y1 Destiny, weekly strikes were something nearly EVERYONE did every single week, and here's why: 1.) Loot - Yes, loot. If you didn't get AT LEAST one exotic item per week across all three characters, that was considered a bad week. I mean c'mon! Loot drops used to be so great in the Nightfall! Even if you didn't get an exotic, you'd get a crap-ton of Strange Coins, or a decent Legendary gun. Now, what do we get? Ghost shells? Turd-tier legendary armor that's not even max light? Sparrow tool kits a.k.a. Sparrow horns???? Get out of here. 2.) Experience Buff - Who else remembers how sick it used to be during Y1 to rock the flaming blue head after completing the nightfall? In the early days of Destiny, if you had that, you were the envy of the Tower. Everyone wanted your help to beat the Nightfall. This buff gave you 25% experience bonus to leveling gear and all factions (except Iron Banner, if I remember correctly). I understand Bungie implemented the ability to use Motes of Light to level things up, but they also took away one of our favorite reasons for doing the Nightfall every week! 3.) The Challenge - Nightfalls used to be painfully difficult. Those of us who are more "hard core" players appreciated these challenges and eagerly tackled them every week. I still remember how vicious sword Vandals and Thrall used to be with Arc Burn and Lightswitch modifiers on! Not to mention, if your whole team wiped, you went back to orbit and had to start over! I like the addition of some of the new modifiers of Y2, but now that you can just run through Nightfalls wiping as many times as you need to regardless of the modifiers, they've just become more of a pain in the butt than anything else. Please, Bungie... Give us back our Nightfall Strikes in all of their previous Glory! Don't worry, we don't have Ice Breaker anymore, so we can't sit in the back and cheese them. Bring back the Nightfall experience buff, but make the Motes of Light worth a tad bit less experience so they can't be abused in conjunct with the Nightfall experience buff. Bring back challenging modifiers like Lightswitch and the original damage multiplier for burns. Punish our fireteams without mercy if we wipe, and for crying out loud make the loot worth it! Even if hardcore players obtain every single exotic and/or legendary weapon or piece of gear that they want, I can practically guarantee you will see a dramatic increase in the amount of players completing the Nightfall each week, if not just so they can get the Nightfall buff for the week. That alone makes it worth it. AND ONE MORE THING. I really miss the Weekly Heroic Strikes and the guaranteed 27 Strange Coins we could get each week! Could we have that back too, please? I know Rise of Iron is less than two months out, but this would satisfy so many of us die-hard Destiny players. Thank you. [Edit] Many comments I have seen have said things like "Y1 Nightfall loot was not better than Y2." REALLY!?!? Because yes it was. I'm sorry your luck is/was terrible, but almost everyone I know got at least one exotic item per week. The last exotic I saw drop from a Nightfall was over a month ago. It wasn't even me, it was another person in my group and it was a Hereafter. Oh yeah, real top-tier. Y1 was better loot and higher chance for exotics. No comparison. [Edit #2] Y1 Nightfalls were so easily soloable due to the fact we had Ice Breaker. That's not to say there aren't great players out there who could still solo Nightfalls without it, but now that Ice Breaker is a distant memory, it significantly increases the difficulty of Nightfalls. That's my point, they should be harder. They should not be soloable but if they are it should be immensely difficult. Also a lot of you guys brought up a good point, returning to orbit is a pain, I agree. The strike should still restart from the beginning, but not go to orbit. That should be a thing. No checkpoints. The S.A.B.E.R. strike would be obnoxiously hard at the warsat part. But again, that's the point. The Nightfall should be super challenging and the reward should be worth the struggle. Experience buff, high chance for exotic drops, large amounts of Strange Coins/Motes of Light or whatever, etc.

Edit: I found It! It will be quoted below. An updated Version will be below the OG version of you want to give that a read as well! I made a post expanding on this idea proposed by another forum-goer a few months ago, but I doubt I can dig it up. If I can you'll see it here instead of what you're reading now.
Title ~ Continued Nighfall altercation ideas! Body ~ So, some of you may have seen the topic about how to improve nightfalls that was trending recently. All credits go to OP. I think that I can improve the basic idea of how to "fix" them. The new and improved Nightfall(s) would have 3 difficulties. Pretty much like the weekly Heriocs used to be. The difficulties would be as follows: 280 light, 290 light, and 310 light. The 280 light nightfall would reward items from 280-295. This difficulty would remain as it is now. Exotics can only drop at 290. Upon completion, you are rewarded with 5 moldering shards. This'll help low light players get more rewards from Oryx. The 290 light nightfall would reward loot from 290-300. This difficulty would also remain as it is now. Exotics can only drop at 300. Upon completion, you are rewarded with 10 moldering shards. This will also help with low light players get ready for hardmode. Now this is where it gets interesting! The 310 light difficulty would reward loot from 310-315. Exotics would be guaranteed to drop at 315, if you get lucky enough to receive one. Ghost shells can drop up to 320, and drop at a minimum of 315. Now, when this difficulty is selected, the game reverts back to "classic nightfall", so when you wipe, you're returned to orbit. Upon completion, you are rewarded with 10 motes of light, 20 strange coins, and 25 legendary marks. This difficulty nightfall would only be able to give rewards once a week between all three characters. So, this is my opinion on how to improve nightfalls. If you have any thoughts on how to improve the nightfalls further, leave them below! Again, all credit for the idea of changing the nightfalls goes to the OP of that topic. I just put my own spin on things. Have a good day all!
Updated Version ~ (For Rise of Iron DLC) (I'm keeping Moldering Shards as an example for whatever material we could be using the the Fallen Raid if there are materials like that) The new and improved Nightfall(s) would have 5 difficulties. Pretty much like the weekly Heriocs used to be. The difficulties would be as follows: 280 Light, 310 Light, 330 Light, and 355 Light. The 280 Light Nightfall ~ This difficulty would remain as it is now. The lowest Light level items can drop at in this difficulty is 290, with the maximum Light level items can drop at is 300. Upon completion, you are rewarded with 5 moldering shards. This'll help low light players get more rewards from Oryx. The 310 Light Nightfall ~ This Difficulty would also remain as it is now. The lowest Light Level items can drop at is 315, with the maximum Light level being 325. Upon completion, you are rewarded with 10 moldering shards. This will also help with low light players get ready for hardmode. The 330 Light Nightfall ~ This difficulty will revert the Nightfall back to the Y1 version. The lowest Light level items can drop at is 335, with the Maximum being 345. Ghost shells can drop up to 340, and drop at a minimum of 335. Now, when this difficulty is selected, the game reverts back to "classic nightfall", so when you wipe, your fireteam will be returned to orbit. Upon completion, you are rewarded with 15 motes of light, 10 strange coins,(Only for the first character that completes it) and 20 legendary marks. (Also, only for the first character that completes it) This mode is for Guardians who need that extra boost in light, but can't handle the challenge of the 355 Nightfall. The 350 Light Nightfall ~ This difficulty will also revert back to the Y1 Nightfall style. The lowest Light items can drop at 350, with the maximum Light level items can drop at being 355. (Yea, I know) Again, when this difficulty is selected, the game reverts back to "classic nightfall", so when you wipe, your fireteam will be returned to orbit. Upon completion, you are rewarded with 35 motes of light, 25 strange coins, (Only for the first character that completes it) and 40 legendary marks. (Also, only for the first character that completes it) This mode if for Guardians to try and grind up to 355, but have already done the raid! It's also for those of you who like a challenge! (Me included :P) So, those are my ideas to improve the less-than-great Nightfall situation we have going on. If you liked the ideas, like this post or give it a bump so it can be shared with others! If you disagree, please let me know what you would change! (In a civilized manner, please!) Game on Guardians!
