I understand specific subclass perks and melee abilities but that should require a melee charge. The base range is kind of ridiculous for warlocks. With no melee charge, just raw 122 damage, a hunter shouldn't be losing to a warlock just as weak as him because he can't fully extend his arm for some dumb reason. It's almost like giving a class the ability to throw a grenade farther just because.
EDIT: here's a good example of the different ranges if you skip to around 6:15. Warlock range is pretty insane actually. I'm pretty sure the base range and the actual melee charge of warlocks have the same range, excluding thunderstrike. I think that the current base melee range of warlocks should remain a part of the melee charge of scorch melee and voidwalker and thunderstrike. However, I think the base melee range should be evened out to around the titan level

Edited by STARWoLF00: 7/28/2016 8:28:17 PMBecause charged melee or no, Titans punch shit. And they have shoulder charge to compensate. Because hunters throw smoke and knives, technically the longest ranged melee or blink knife. Because void walker actually bend space with their melee, akin to a force push. Because sunsingers thwap you with a wall of solar energy. Because stormcallers zap you with a bolt of lightning. Each class has its advantages.
CLASS -blam!-ING DIVERSITY
Its all about melee speed. Titans have the fastest while warlocks have the slowest.
-
Warlocks need that range to compensate for what they don't have (Evade, speed, etc.). All classes have at least one thing that makes them annoying, and for warlock, it is the range of their melee.
-
Because Bungie likes to always put Hunters at a disadvantage and Warlocks at an advantage.
-
Titan melee range is insane #TeleportingTitans

I'm going to say this only once, someone write it down for future reference. *clears throat* SPACE MAGIC

The trade off is range for speed.

Edited by Mizo: 7/28/2016 7:04:28 PMBecause a stormcaller uses 2 hands for their melee
satire
-
Because hunters and Titans have op abilities and all warlocks have is their melee
-
Because bungie loves warlocks and barely gives them an extinction type nerf.
-
I can honestly say as a warlock that we have the most range but by far a the slowest in term of melee attacks
-
Realism. A punch or a quick stab should not extend as far as a Force Push.
-
Why give classes different perks?
-
Here we go again
-
Why make different classes that's the real question # genius
-
Warlocks get range but are slower. Titans are fastest, and both Titans and hunters have the same range, I think (trex arms were buffed). Hunters can get precision damage on their base melee though, which is unique to them as far as I know. It doesn't come up that often, but I think it's a cool little bonus. And hunters aren't much slower than Titans; it's what I've heard, but I can't really tell the difference when I'm playing.

So if you take away their melee range and it's raw 122 damage? It sounds to me that you just want to cripple the warlock class.
-
Sorry YOUR class is the weakest at something. I'm a Hunter main. And you sure as shit didn't care before. You only care now because YOUR main was changed. Honestly bro, you're opinion holds as much value as a fistful of dirt. Let them have their fun and ADAPT to changes.
-
Because diversity. Why dont we make all melee ranges and gun dps the same? It would only be more boring
-
The hunters lunge has longer ranger than the warlocks actual melee.
-
Warlocks ate by far the least agile class and don't really have the best armor to compensate for that. They need the range. If you're refering to the ridiculous thunderstrike melee, that's a perk that makes that reach. Warlocks are also only class without an evasion ability. You want to dial back range, give us ability to evade. But the lock honestly needs range
-
Warlocks hit a snipe body shot from across the map and finish them with a thunder strike
-
To add variety and so match peoples play styles
-
And hunters melee is faster than warlocks
