Is it better to stay closer to our emblems or can we be creative with what our ball looks like (as long as no props and is a ball)? For example I could have my ball have a light brown ring with white spots on it to symbolize my username or I could just use my reach emblem.

Their is no formal rule about it, but I personally suggest sticking with whatever avatar you use. They are generally more recognizable in a visual art form such as Bungieball compared to a reference to a username that someone might not understand.
