HALO 2 PC SERVERS GOING DOWN?
I have heard alot of rumors saying that Halo 2 servers are going down sometime soon and you will not be able to play Halo 2 online again, but this had been said near abouts the same time as microsoft saying that the origanl xbox games servers are going down. Apparently bungie are fighting to keep them going so does that include the PC servers too? GothicChav

yeah, connecting to H2V Server browser is like trying to connect to a wireless access point. Sign into live, connecting (Live IP) Connected. Connecting to H2V Browser... timeout... timeout2... timeout3... timed out. tries again in a min. rinse and repeat.

Yeah. The servers take a long time to show up in the game browser, sometimes. I end up alt+tab'ing and doing something else for up to 10 minutes.

This highly unlikely. Really, if you think about it, just because Halo 2 servers for the Xbox 360 were shut down; this does NOT mean that PC servers would shut down. The rumor is alive, and will continu,e but ignore it. This is almost impossible for microsoft to do this.

[/quote] It's a hybrid system. The servers are dedicated, but they still hold the keys to the castle with GFWL. I'm betting that there is no direct IP ability (like in Halo PC) to bypass LIVE.

When you consider Halo PC probably peaked around 6 thousand people online simultaneously around 2005/2006, and H2v maybe peaked 200 players when it was released...then no, nobody played H2v. It's a terrible game. Halo PC still averages 900-1k players. H2v is like 50 players now maybe....dunno.

No, the PC servers are not going down. It's the Halo 2 Xbox servers that are going down, along with every other Xbox Originals game. Read up on it, there's some updates on the main page in the Comm Chatter.
