In case you can't see the picture, it's a loading screen tip that says, "All weapons are not created equal; switching weapons or enabling the weapon modifier is encouraged."
There's a little message for you! In games like CoD and Battlefield, you might get used to being able to use long range weapons up close and take out other people consistently, but that's not how it works here! 🙅
If you're using something like the assault rifle or vortex rifle when someone's in your face.... you're going to have a bad time, and it's totally your fault. You've got to switch it up.
In my 4 loadouts I use, I make sure to have a weapon that works best when enemies are far(ish) away, and I make sure to have something that works up close. All of my classes have a super shotgun, but the 2nd weapon changes from a rocket launcher, to the hellshot and to the chaingun. In small maps, I'm pretty nasty and use both shotguns 😛
You've got to switch your weapons a lot. With most of the kills I get, I switch my weapons 1, 2 or even 3 times. It's all about judging the range and what's best!
I'll usually start out with my rocket launcher, and when I take a shot at them with that, I should be moving closer so I get in range with my shotgun. Then if because of our movement we separate for a second and become out of range for my shotgun, I take out my rocket again.
I pretty much repeat that until I get the kill or die trying. Also, switching weapons is faster than waiting to be able to shoot a second time with the shotgun. So usually, even if we're close and I might damage myself, I'll still take out my rocket launcher after shooting with my shotgun, because I could shoot that quicker than another shot with my shotgun! That's why I sometimes use 2 shotguns. So I can shotgun all the time and not have to wait!
"Not all weapons are created equal." So, there's better weapons for different situations... And surprise surprise, shotguns are good up close! If you're too stubborn not to equip something that can compete when close to your enemy, that's your problem, not the game's..... 😒

It only took the game I've been looking forward to for almost a decade to get the point across.
-
I agree.
-
Finally. Thank you RH. Too little common sense is used by a chunk of people in DOOM's community.
-
I only use the Chaingun and Assault Rifle
-
Well you said it yourself no matter what your loadouts includes the super shotgun... Hmmm I agree you should be switching weapons and never rely on a single weapon in a game like doom but in my (very) limited experience with the multiplayer and from what your own thread mentioned no matter the map one should always have an old trusty super shotgun to fall back on. My issue is with ranged weapons they do not do enough damage fast enough, especially with the map layouts and movement speed where it is so easy to duck away. I haven't played a ton of the full game sober at least (lots of beta play tho)

No it's unbalanced. Doom MP makes BfH MP look balanced.
-
I like it so far
-
I f**kin love the old school MP in Doom, shoot & Run..... Man the memories Playin Unreal D:

Edited by Hippo_Legacy: 5/18/2016 1:16:00 PMThe MP is amazing as far as I'm concerned. Let's all welcome back MP that actually requires skill. No more two shotting somebody in the foot for a kill. And this game is totally balanced. This new generation of players thinks balance means every gun does the exact same amount of damage, where the deciding factor is how fast you pull the trigger since only two bullets kills from any gun. These kids complain about people running around with shotguns when in CoD they just camp around corners with snipers to no scope people, like that's balanced gameplay. This multiplayer is phenomenal, this will probably be the only FPS MP I'll play from now on.
-
People still play that.
-
That game had a multiplayer? I rented it and took it back after 2 days. Thank god I didnt buy that turd.
-
I love this game. Im so glad it didnt disappoint me. Mp is solid (never had 1 red bar/lag issue yet), fun to play and brutal. Campaign has kept me entertained (chainsaw bitches!) and about to start using snapmap. Loaded into destiny yesterday to play pvp with mates and realised how broken parts of it are. I'll come back to play with friends, but doom is where i shall be for a long time.

Even from the beta i found this game to be very well balanced, i dont know why people have been complaining. Ya shotguns are good at close range, surprise surprise, but if all you use is shotguns then you get absolutely destroyed as soon as someone gets some range on you. I personally suck with the assault rifle, does this mean it is terrible and under powered? Not necissarily, i have been destroyed by other people using it so obviousely the problem is that it just isnt the weapon for me. This game is all about finding the weapon that works for you and figuring out the correct range and tactics for using that weapon. If you are running up to someone who has a shotgun and you have an assault rifle you should lose easily, and for no other reason than you have no idea how to use the assault rifle properly.
-
I suck a the multiplayer, but still find it more enjoyable than cod
-
BUMP. I miss the chainsaw in the MP.
-
They aren't used to weapons that are different from each other
-
If I wanted easy multiplayer I'll play battlefront.
-
Here is why it's imbalanced. The -blam!-ing shields and health. Teams that start better always end up with more shields which means longer time to kill which means you die first. Also lets be honest. It's ok but it's not great MP.
-
Lightning gun and combat shotgun with frags/siphon grenades are amazing The alternate fire for the Lightning gun can take out multiple targets
-
Let's be real here the campaign is amazing. The multiplayer is..........horrible!
-
THANK YOU! This is an arena game people. It's not meant to be like CoD multiplayer at all.
-
It may not be the greatest multiplayer, but it's definitely the most fun I've had in a very long time, right up there with Halo
-
Edited by DeezTaters: 5/17/2016 12:59:58 AMI run with Combat Shotgun, Lightning Gun and the siphon grenade.
-
Did somebody ring the dinkster?

Edited by Bitter Mercy: 5/17/2016 9:18:44 PMNobody's ever prepared for a stacked game of 'Double Jump Overhead Combat Shotgun'.

So what you're saying is "to those who say doom multiplayer is unbalanced...you're right"?
