Halo 2, Xbox LIVE and You
Microsoft announced today that Xbox LIVE support for original Xbox games will be discontinued on April 15, 2010.

I'm just so sick of Microsoft - not because they necessarily have bad products, but because they pull this type of crap. Halo 2 Multiplayer was awesome and Bungie should be proud over it. This sucks.

WHOA HOLD IT! What! Does this mean i wont be able to play HALO Combat evolved on the Xbox360 anymore? I got i from games on demand, no... they cant do that. Is microsoft just not having anymore support for online games on demand or ARE THEY GONA GET RID OF GAMES ON DEMAND! Serious sam just came out on games on Demand! Is THAT gona fade?! If my Halo Combat evolved Dissipears im gona ether WANT my 1200 microsoft points back! Or ill get to keep it... as a crazy Raving Halo fan i think I would like TO Keep it. Please tell me after a weekend of Halo3 crazy fun if im wrong?

I had some good times on my old Xbox, but I know for a fact that I can move on. But why not, let's have some good times on April 14th. They are pretty much shutting down just the old service to improve Xbox LIVE for Xbox 360 and future consoles, plus some other things. Hopefully this won't be a pattern for them to do this on 360 in the future.

Besides... Microsoft, you are going to be DOING SOMETHING to make up for this Abomination of an idea once its through, so what are you going to do? How are you going to improve the Xbox360 live? What are you going to do to help improve the Live?! But, luckly Halo Reach will cheer up the Halo side of the Xbox live a bit, but not enough. PS. you [b]DONT[/b] need to read the next bit Just to let you know Bungie, ever since i seen Halo Combat evolved, ive admired your work and am now hopeful to someday work at Bungie or a place like it. AND YES 96 does stand for the fact i am 13, im quite a computing guy or a sketchpad artist, not as good as i could be.

I'm not understanding peoples thinking behind this. First off, Halo 2 for Vista doesn't have anything to do with Halo 2 on the Xbox. One does not need the other to work properly or use Live Services. They aren't cross-platform playable. [u]Scratch the second thing, apparently Sketch cleared up that we can't play online at all :([/u] Secondly, why is everyone saying stuff about how they can't play there favorite maps or anything anymore in Halo 2? You can and always will be able to host custom games, they aren't getting rid of that functionality. (Think of Firefight in Halo 3: ODST, where to have to find people through other means to have matches now. Or just have friends who will play with you) Thirdly, it's an old game, I'm not surprised that support is being discontinued. Granted, it's not THAT old in the grand scheme of things, but if it's holding back Live now then it probably should be gotten rid of. And last but not least, even though it's very unlikely, I would very much like to see a re-worked Halo 1 and Halo 2 Multiplayer for the 360 (whether through Games on Demand or some other means is fine with me). And I don't mean updated graphics or anything else, just the ability to play them online. [Edited on 02.06.2010 12:10 AM PST]

I oppose the idea of an Arcade re-release. If you want to play Halo 1/2 online, get them for PC. Sure a remake with updated graphics and the sort SOUNDS cool, but it seems like more trouble than its worth since REACH is right around the corner.

The Halo 2 era was my favorite time in gaming. I was around 15-17 so all my friends were always around playing Halo 2. We always had good times. Those moments will never be replicated ever again in my gaming lifetime. I sure hope Reach feels like H1 and H2. Halo 2 not being on live anymore feels like an old girlfriend has passed away =p. Good thing we know when she's gonna die so we can have a few last words.

No, this makes me so sad. Its like a Era is ending, Halo 2 was my first XBox live game were I met most of my friends. I think I'm going to cry.
