Today Microsoft announced that as of April 15th they discontinue Xbox LIVE service for original Xbox consoles and games (i.e.Halo 2). This includes Xbox v1 games being played on an Xbox 360.

To everyone who has played, enjoyed and supported Halo 2 for it's 5+ years of dominance on Xbox LIVE, we thank you! It is of course sad for any of us to accept the end of an era but it's been a good ride.
That said, mark your calendars now - on April 14th we're going to hit Halo 2 en masse for one last HOORAH, old school style.

I think it sucks that they are shutting it down, but at least it was fun while it lasted. Now I have something to look forward to in a couple months, a day where it won't be any problem finding matches in Halo 2.
