Hand Cannon Help

I'm hoping to get some advice and/or pointers on the usage of hand cannons. I have a nice Eyasluna(currently on my male Titan). It's got Rescue Mag, Handloaded/Oiled Frame/Casket Mag, and Luck in the Chamber. Currently have SteadyHand IS equipped. My problem is I suck with hand cannons. And it feels like a waste leaving that gun on the shelf. I seem to have an issue with aiming down sights. Is there a trick to what I need to be aiming at? Do I go off the reticle or the barrel, etc? I can't seem to hit my mark consistently while other times I 2 and 3 shot kill people. Any advice/pointers would be much appreciated!

  • I'm using ace of spades for this iron banner, aiming for the body, and popping off 3 rounds usually gives me a headshot due to recoil. But, the biggest thing I'm working on with hand cannons in the crucible is knowing when to run from a gunfight. Probably due to this forum being filled with children who only value the opinion of a high k/d.

    • Eyasluna is a hard hc to use no matter the rolls due to its average aim assist and poor recoil control. It takes a lot of time to get used to its recoil pattern. I would recommend going to planet destiny db and looking at hand cannons that have high aim assist and recoil control (the devil you know is one) and start with those.

      • Never use a hand cannon in long range maps. Always have a sniper w/ a hand cannon. HC precision shots are buggy, so hitting the chest of a guardian has a chance to headshot.

      • I don't have an eyesluna. When I use faster rate of fire hand cannons, I aim for the chest, the next two shots should hit the head. They either move, and I shoot them as they try to avoid, or I just spray until dead. Heavier hitting hand cannons with slower rate of fire, like Judith-D, hits hard. One to the head, two to the body. They fire slowly, but after two hits, people panic and move. Just avoid and incoming hits and shoot them in the butt as they run. Done and done. Also, hand cannons seem to work better for higher agility builds, but thats me.

          • I've been using hand cannons since day 1. They are fun once you get the hang of them. Your Eyasluna is godly, wish I had that. Lol Screw you Lord Shaxx, why are you not giving me an eyasluna... So anyways, ignore that rage... Practice in Skirmish. Aim but always aim for body up. Headshots are godly for Hand cannons. One headshot can lead you to winning a duel especially if it's a luck in chamber... But remember, if you are in a state of panic, (2v1 or dying and need a fast kill) don't aim for head shots, you'll get killed by the time you get your first 1. Another thing is, Hand Cannons have naturally high aim assistance. Abuse it when you can, hence the reason I tell you that if it's a normal 1v1 and you are not in trouble yet, just aim for body and higher. The recoil will point the reticle slightly higher up the body and the aim assistance can help you land that lucky head shot bullet. Lots of info eh? Well a lot of the stuff I said seems complex because I am being overly stupidly complex. You'll see what I mean in time. Hand Cannons are fun once again when you learn to use them. Your Eyasluna is amazing, it will help you a lot in 3v3 modes and will be really awesome in Trials. Good luck m8, this is FaZe advice. (Lol jk)

              • The two things I would suggest is, one, movement prediction is key, like snipers, handcannons reward accuracy. If there are two doors and you got one guy low, check the other door 80% of the time they are there. The second being go into patrol and practice getting precision shots while moving, don't just run around, jump, tumble, make it difficult. This way in crucible you can get in and get out quickly while still getting kills. (Oh and sorry, should have prefaced this, I typically use The First Curse in crucible)
