Several problems they would have to completely get rid of infusion which resulted in a massive grind, they need this update to last. You would be able to level up elemental primaries which goes against their current thought process of making raid weapons shitty. I still have 5-6 etheric lights so I would already be able to make 1 character max level on day 1.

Since etheric light is now much easier to come by, I'd guess they would have a system where each etheric light added 20 light to whatever you applied it to or something like that.
