You do realize that humanity and the guardians are a barely surviving group that can't reach beyond the asteroid belt. What the hell makes you think suddenly they'd be able to go the speed of light or have ships that can manage long distance trips?

  • We have ships,....with warp drives. Or nls drives. Who's to say that we didn't have any small scale operations outside the solar system? The reef is full of civilian ships that were heavily damaged and destroyed, massive ships.

  • The Grimour cars say that we didn't. Aka the canon of the -blam!-ing series.

  • If Bungie was half smart they'd make Destiny 2 about using the dreadnought to expand past the asteroid belt until the final missions were on Pluto and it's discovered that the new 9th planet that was recently discovered is actually a world that is the source of the darkness' power in our system and a DLC could include attacking it and killing essentially what are the worm gods that the Traveler was trying to kill when Oryx and his sisters found them and chased the Traveler off. The further planets would allow for more enemy types and maybe more evil species more along the line of the hive who are actually evil.

  • Basic understanding of any actually really well built world though poorly explained and introduced to the game.

  • During the Prohibition, one way the black market made their alcohol was to use ‘denatured’, industrial alcohol as the base– the kind used in paints and solvents and then had their own chemists “renature” the alcohol to make it drinkable again. Alcohol in paints and cleaning products (a.k.a denatured alcohol), contains various ingredients that smell or taste putrid and usually induce vomiting. This is done so that companies selling these industrial products get to avoid the high taxes that come with manufacturing and selling normal, consumable alcoholic beverages

  • I do agree with you, story wise it wouldn't be very good, since we are still crawling back to surface, and the Traveler must be restored if we intend to go elsewhere. But as for going there, we have a Dreadnaught now.

  • It makes more sense to try to push to Jupiter and it's moons not a completely different solar system or even take back Mercury.

  • It's not that they can't, it's that they know it's certain death

  • No, they actually can't. The golden age didn't give us the ability to leave the sol system.

  • Well we did have warp drives (nls and sometimes referred to jump drives) We didn't have enough time to expand outside of the solar system. The traveler was only here for 100 or 150 years before the darkness came. We were advanced, but not to the point where we could defend ourselves from such an attack.

  • Yes and the point still stands that we didn't have the ability to leave the system. We didn't get that far and right now they're just trying to recapture what we've lost no make big new breakthroughs.

  • You can't really say that we couldn't leave the solar system. We did have faster than light capabilities and large ships. Did we reach the level of infrastructure to enable us to establish anything out of system? Probably not. That doesn't mean that we couldn't or that they may have not had exploration teams. Grimoire cards state that we expanded and occupied our whole system. The Jupiter card says that there may be cities on its moon. In addition to ocean spanning cities elsewhere. At any rate we were to busy exploiting our own solar system by the time the darkness came.

  • And we never went beyond the system because it takes more than light speed to manage that and a large ship doesn't mean shit. We never managed to get beyond our system because we didn't advance that far. Co spidering right now people are interested in other systems why the -blam!- would we have limited ourselves to just the Sol system if we didn't have to?

  • Actually, listen again to the Cryptarchs opening monologue (before your ghost res' you for the first time) he specifically mentions the ability to chart beyond our solar system

  • Part of the story. Maybe we'll find golden age tech and fight our way out after we get a distress call. Use your imagination, we could make it happen

  • Even during the golden age they didn't have those capabilities. There is nothing to find.

  • They had the capability easily. The tech is all there, just gotta put it together right. Maybe Amanda Holliday had a little side project and made a ship that fits the requirements

  • No they never left our solar system. There is no tech that can go outside of the sol system to find.

  • How would you even know? If we can colonize venus, a planet with an atmosphere of 96% carbon dioxide, or create single manned spaceships that can travel a t a warp speed between planets, traveling 50,000+ miles in about 20 seconds, I think we could travel about 100,000,00 miles in about an hour. Your argue end is invalid, good sir

  • The Traveler terriformed Venus. Did you not read the grimour cards? It wasn't any tech we had. We never colonized beyond Mars because the Dark was showed up. Also you're suggesting that we, the guardians of the broke. Remains of humanity, go into the darkness and abandon humanity...you're a shitty guardian. Guardians are supposed to guard not abandon.
