Snipers, do they need changes?

Multiple nerfs have been implemented for shottys and fusions but snipers have remained largely unchanged. I'm not a great sniper for PVP so I do have some bias here but I've found many other people have to moved to snipers as the other specials just arent as competitive anymore. I'm sure that sniper fans will disagree with my thoughts but I have two major problems with snipers and its not aim assist, quick scoping, no scoping or one shot kills. The first is the fact that when I'm shooting someone with high caliber rounds they still seem to be able to head shot me without much difficulty, this seems like nonsense and that it shouldnt be a thing. To counter this I suggest that either the scope rock when shot should significantly increase and also move you away from where you were aiming or more simply if you get shot it knocks you out of scope completly just like in Halo. Secondly if you headshot me and I die thats a good shot and I deserved it but what I find is I very often get body shotted and then finished with a primary to the body. This doesnt seem like a way a sniper should work and the only way I can think to counter this is either to lower the amount of damage body shots do (I dont really like that idea though) or just make the times to ready or put away a sniper much longer than it currently is. They should also get rid of the red light when a sniper is scoped at you to try and balance these suggested changes so you can "hide" better as a sniper would do. I'd love to hear snipers and none snipers thoughts on these suggestions.

  • I'd like to say that I've favoured a sniper for a long time since I first got the x360 9 years ago m40a5 anyone? The mechanics of this game can't be compared to cod. Ttk in cod is ridiculously quick chest shots kill on most targets and the game favours quick scoping(did when I last played). When your getting pounded with a mida the flinch is real a headshot off that is luck or you got out played accept it. In the thorn/tlw meta snipers were barely relevant due to shotguns being so op and thorns dot. Snipers don't need to change choose your lanes use your cover close the distance. When you get into the edge of your primary range toss in your grenade finish him off

    • U can deal with flinch if you're smart. Any1 can and snipers are no exception Changing guns for follow up shots isn't a broken mechanic but really just shows what players react appropriately or on time compared to those who don't have enough intelligence to retreat or change their strats in those engagements The NERF to shotguns was MEANT to handicap mobile players. Not a direct nerf to shotguns, but to players just so that the bad players with awful immobile habits stand a chance... They're trying to slow the pace and functionality of good players who have enough sense to take advantage of the game mechanics to the fullest. This should be apparent but obviously it isn't

        • Keep in mind that some people are beast when it comes to sniping in video games wether it's halo or cod as far as I'm concerned there's a reason if your shooting someone staggering them and they still headshot you yeah you'll probably wanna consider not getting in front of that guy bc either 1 he got lucky or 2 he is so consistent at sniping that he knows how his rifles reticle is gonna react when he's getting shot and predicts/adjusts his scope accordingly. There really isn't nothing you could do to nerf a true sniper honestly bc even if you give us one shot then we have to reload we will still figure out and adapt to our rifles inside and out there is a reason we say "this is my rifle there are many like it but this one is mine, without my rifle I am nothing, with out me my rifle is nothing, this is my rifle there are many like it but this one is mine.

        • No, the community just needs a good thumping on the head to realize that the other special weapons are actually really good. Everyone is running around *ahem, camping in hallways* with snipers like a bunch of sheep because they think snipers are a guaranteed win and good k/d.

        • People just trying to 2 tap body shot instead of going for the headshot is annoying I'd say maybe a reduction in bodyshot damage and an increase in headshot damage A change like this may make some of the lower impact snipers able to res snipe and will award a precise shot while being more punishing to miss your shot, I don't know its just an idea

Make it if you get shot up close or hit hard enough from afar (like from a scout rifle barrage), the scope goes good-bye. Also, make it take time for the reticle to actually get accurate (I'm thinking like the accuracy increase of Hyperion snipers from Borderlands). In other words if you're scoping for too long in one spot, you are visible 100 miles out.

                      • Snipers are fine, I understand that it's frustrating to get shut down whenever your hitting someone but it depends on the player not the weapon. I feel like you're not considering the other things that happen, for example if I'm in sniping range I'm already at the advantage regardless of if I miss, hit a body shot, or wait for you to peek, the sniper is supposed to be the best long ranged option so the further you are the easier it is to compensate. Those micro adjustments when you're getting hit and trying to predict the opponents next move are 50/50 and each time you miss while under fire you lower your chances of comming out on top. Also 2-3 shots to the body to kill is perfectly fine because then it makes synergy with your primary. If I would have to list ways to bring sniper rifles down a notch it would the following 1. Slowing down movement speed with it drawn out. 2. Adding a sway so that hardscoping doorways can be more difficult. Also making the sway of a sniper scope a stat. 3. Slightly reducing aim assist across all snipers. 4. Inverting the aim assistance that different scopes give you. (Shortgaze should give you an aim assist penalty and a bit more sway, especially with the size of most of the maps, the higher zoom scopes should have the aim assist boost.) And last but not least a slight(I mean very slight) delay of the centering of your scope during follow up shots. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

                        • I just think special needs to be nerfed again. People are still using shotguns and snipers like primaries. Not to mention that if special ammo spawned way less often, all the sudden sidearms are very appealing since they always spawn with it.
