Refer-a-friend unfair to veterans

Bungie Why are you punishing Veteran players with the refer a friend program. My friends brought me in a year ago and I have brought people in since. Now you come out with this and give Exclusive Weapons as rewards for this. Me and all of my friends are out of people to refer because we were loyal to you. All our loyalty has netted is a "shadder emblem, sparrow and more" even though the more part never came. But now for those who weren't in it from the start and still have people to bring in are getting EXCLUSIVE WEAPONS that we cannot not get is an insult to all of our hard work. You say that feedback is important but stuff like this just goes to show that you really only care about the sales and not your current players. I love this game but things like this are really frustrating. Please just make it right and give those of us who are out of people to bring in to this universe a way to earn these weapons. I never minded exclusive shadders, sparrows and emblems. They don't affect game play, but weapons do. Please make it right

  • Not just to only veterans but to everyone. It seems like the community knows better how to treat each other then the accountants at Bungie/Activision. Everyone that plays this game and that has had some issue with it knows damn well that collecting and questing is what they want to do. So the fact that people can not get the same thing that is being offered to some random new person is dumb. Didn't Bungie learn from the entire The Taken King preorder fiasco that the veterans should be getting gear also. Not just the new people. The refer a friend should be for everyone.

  • With this logic, the Veteran's Quest is unfair to newcomers

    • The point is us veterans already did this MORE THAN ONCE and did more than just ONE quest. I was excited when I heard I'd finally be rewarded for what I've been doing since I started playing. Then I found out I can't because I play the XBOX 360 and NOT the XBOX ONE. wow...thanks

    •
EXCLUSIVE WEAPONS
Reskins of the same three legendary swords you can get from Shaxx. Ugly reskins at that. They don't affect gameplay. I hate the refer a friend program, but this isn't what I would be focusing on.

On one hand I think it's a crock that Bungie is turning to their players to get more customers by bribing us with new gear. On the other hand I think it's a crock that Bungie is turning to their players to get more customers by bribing us with new gear. Sell your own game. And I'm not even saying this as someone who hates Destiny. I really love Destiny but I also think a person would have to be crazy not to think this is a stupid Idea. HEY BUNGIE! I'LL HELP PUSH SALES IF YOU GIVE ME A CUT! How about you give your loyal players the missions anyway. And get dedicated F'ing servers while you're at it.

    • Guess I will be copy/pasting this a lot as the forums are blowing up about this. I am a Day 1 player for the record as well.... Anyone who has paid attention to my posts over my time on this forum knows I am far from being a Bungie fan boy. That said, I will call things as I see it. In this case, as I mentioned in another thread, I have personally been involved with and managed referral programs and I work at a video game company. So I have actual real world knowledge on this stuff from behind the curtain. That link they provide is the validation process. On the back end it provides Bungie an ID to prove that someone was referred by someone else. This will help to get any issues resolved if rewards are not issued, etc. That said, as a business, they have to have some type of control in place to make sure the program is not abused. This link (validation process) is that gate to make sure they don't get burned and are getting actual referrals. Otherwise EVERYONE and their mother would claim they added someone. So that is part of this that people aren't understanding. The other part people are complaining about is that they referred X people in the past and should get credit for it. 2 things on that: 1) - I know this sucks, but the cold reality is, the program didn't exist when you referred someone therefore you don't get to retroactively get rewarded. This is not unethical nor illegal. This should be a common sense issue, you made your referral, the program didn't exist then./end. 2) - Let's say Bungie wanted to reward you for referring someone before the program even existed, how would they know who you referred? There was no program, so there was no validation process (no link to have your friend sign up through) so how would you prove you referred someone? Believe me, I referred people too and would love to get this stuff, but reality is, I have no justification to get pissed off about it based on the above. Luckily I do have a friend who is getting Destiny for the first time next week so I will be referring her.

      • Nobody got punished. Literally nothing changed in the veterans' gameplay experience.

      • All my friends are longtime Xbox players already. They already have Destiny and the Taken King. And what's more, I actually DID refer a friend; I even bought his Taken King expansion for him when TTK came out! (still owes me $40, bastard) How are the true fans of Destiny supposed to get this new loot when all of their friends already have the game? Its bogus to put something that everyone would like to have impossibly out of reach. Why not just sell the loot at Eververse? At least everyone would have an equal chance at getting this Refer a Friend loot (controversial micro-transactions aside). This doesn't seem realistic. Everyone who would have referred a friend, or gotten a friend to buy Destiny has already done it, or those friends already have the game and the Taken King! This is just dangling a carrot that's always just out of reach. It aggravates me when Bungie/Activision pulls stunts like these. This would have been far better when the Taken King came out. This would been a great idea when TTK came out. Now that its been out for some time now, statistically speaking, there are far less opportunities to even Refer a Friend through Bungie's process. Its unrealistic.

      • I'm not referring anyone until they fix the server issues and further more I got 3/4 people to join in year one and got reward nothing. So bungie don't count on me until dedicated servers are introduced and veterans with over 2000 or more hours are rewarded for their loyalty

        • I feel like my time in Destiny since Day 1 is being cheapened by this Refer a Friend program. Please make an alternate way to get these items. In a game set up on looting, I want cool new loot. And to be shown something and then told I won't be able to get it makes me question if Destiny is something I want to keep investing time and money on it.
