This trials so many people are not going for heavy and trying to camp it. Makes it really easy to grab. I've grabbed both heavies quite a few times now because of it. Sort of reminds me of rift, everyone sort of sitting around camping the spark but no one grabbing it..

  • I love it when a team rushes heavy lol. I sit and stalk on it hoping they get greedy. Today I tethered an entire group on heavy spawn. Once I killed them, I them proceeded to grab the heavy anyways. Just a reminder that got THAT close to getting it.

      •
Hey Cozmo, here's my .02 on this and a few personal comments for feedback purposes. Where the multiplayer experience starts and where it ends is when gamers know and not just feel the playing field is the same. There is no doubt that competitive gamers exist when a FPS is on the board. At my current age, I've been involved with 14 competitive FPS including Counter Strike, Halo 1 through MCC, and Gears of War. The highlights of each system has only been culminated with each generation which picks up the controller and simply wants to have a fun experience trading competitive line of sights with the opposing team and know the end result was a fair and equally competitive match. It is for this reason Destiny's MP team needs to reassess the competitive multiplayer experience for the next game even if they won't be around for it. Simple enough technology upgrades like dedicated servers masking IP addresses easier, creating another barrier of security, and helping reduce incoming traffic flow to servers through proxy servers (thus helping lag) is just one option available coming an IT analyst at present. The other is the player experience being as diversified as possible. Guns, grenades, and melee's are not the baseline formula anymore for shooters. Their needs to be dynamic and cross comparison teamwork-oriented environment in almost all aspects of a multiplayer experience. At present? I can identify a lot of MP maps which satisfy this, but their is not one which is 100% completely fluent in teamwork thus purposely creating situations where no player will be able to outgun or outsmart another opponent. The competitive multiplayer experience is a solution opportunity and I would say that to each and every MP designer at this point. Trials of Osiris. I've had more then a few friends on my friends list say they would love to see me in Trials. When I am with a fireteam composed of friends the atmosphere changes. Friends needing help? I'll make my presence known to help them in the area of the map they are contesting and having issues with. Sometimes we succeed. Sometimes we fail. That's crucible for you. Even in my Halo career? I would get JIP into a match with players raging through headsets and I would simply say, "Hey guys. PhNx Hellfire. Join In Progress added me. What seems to be the biggest problem?" and I would get answers about it, deal with the problem with proper line of sight/ weapon combo's and suddenly the match would flip on itself and, as a JIP, nothing made me smile bigger then knowing I was the rock which turned the tide. In Halo lore? I got ODST dropped, feet first, into a match and we pulled it out from under and while that didn't happen all the time? Reach was all the more enjoyable because those matches happened and I kept playing because of it. Enter one of the random patches coming up to Halo 4... and I suddenly found less and less players in the playlists. Those matches don't happen anymore. I lose interest and Phoinix Gaming which I had been in since Halo 3 starts showing signs of players playing games I don't play because they don't like Halo just as much as Halo 4 made. Destiny and any FPS needs to start taking notice of that issue and stop with all the screaming bug rant fixes. It's the simple accusation which gets used against politicians today ironically: "Stop burying the pressing issues at the bottom of the pile and start assessing the situations better." when pressed with which kind of reform to bring next while others might be suffering or dying more often then not as displayed by professional reports made by people in those fields of work. I find it not funny or worthwhile when I actually have to put that on a screen because personally, I think all politicians are crooks. Doing what they think is best and not what everyone else is telling them which only hurts... everyone else. Ironic I don't see you as that, but others have used the internet to say just that to you. There is no such thing as a negative troll which doesn't have a point to be made about something when it's as small as video games. Interactive entertainment means you need to pay more attention and in more situations then you currently do. As a community manager? Stop burying the issues with MP. Stop burying the issues with the raids. Be more honest. Not transparent. Honest. Tell people when you see things. Make a daily.sticky note which shows what was accomplished and if nothing? Say what was brought up, what is going on in the offices of Bungie. Yes we all have jobs to do and I'm aware that pay scale wise might mean you can't commit time to the forums and certainly not to the community. Many of us who have worked pro bono jobs for example know that time is not a luxury to be had, especially as someone in IT, but the never ending search to make information known as best we can only leads to positive results which will be counter rebuttal and ultimately silence the complaints. If the complaints continue? You're looking at the situation above. Players will not stick around for something which isn't fun and that? Is not something you can read on a generated report about the community and their choices in-game. So with that said, here's the to do list for Trials: #1. No more bans. Issue more reclamation medals. How to accomplish: Look at investment opportunities to shut down ways to cheat. No system will be perfect, but players do not cheat on a video game for the fun memory of it. They do it because you've made design failures. Have three different ways to make it to the Lighthouse which doesn't yield rewards except the one way? You will find less of it. The way I see it? Trials- Time commitment reward. You've played a boatload of hours, put in countless amounts of coins, ect.? You have been sought after by Osiris for the cutscene and grimoire along with a minimal reward for sticking around. Competitive winning- As it currently is. Grimoire specialization track- Osiris is calling a special unit. You are the special unit. But you can only get the clues... by following the clues he left behind. #2. Weapon balancing for Trials. This theory has been working on people for quite some time. First, it was thorn. Now it is pulse rifles. Next would be ________. So why not adopt such a thing into trials? There's pro's and cons all over the place, but basically: Each week a new weapon is featured by Osiris. Maybe one week it is shotguns. Maybe the next sniper rifles. Maybe machine guns next. Each week, make gun stats change in the trials performance. Make it exciting to see which gun will be given "boon" by Osiris for the week (as in extra points, increased range, ect.) for killing players with those weapons. #3. Map rotation As much as players like seeing the same map? Variety teaches the mind to counter all strategies. Not playing the same strategy with new players for 10 wins. #4. Let players make the experience they want. If a map is not up to snuff for both teams? Select a new map. It's trials. Every week we see a new map, a new rotation, ect.. Make it so players can actually enjoy what they will be playing on. #5. The list goes on and on and on. I don't think any competitive player on the forums will not say they will find new things to bring up. so keep the conversation open and keep the team in the loop. Technology and programming is one thing, but not being flexible to situational changes is not going to help ANYONE.
