The fact that it forces down our throats unlikable characters, Chief and blue team getting sidelined to only 3 chapters, the game ending on a messy cliffhanger that requires the player to read like eleven books and hear other media to understand the main game's plot. Even H3 which has the biggest plotholes in the series still gave a concrete story. Cortana living again is lazy and making her evil is worst, atleast the halos are back.

Hm. Interesting points. I'm not sure I find Cortana being present so much lazy, but more of an excuse to turn the universe on its head. Come to think of it, this game shares many similarities with Halo 2. Being the middle game of the trilogy, it follows the same pattern. The similarities: -playing as an alternate character -an ending that isn't sitting well with quite a few people -a story that's more complicated and not as simplistically smooth as its predecessor -an unexpected villain coupled with politics -multiplayer that, according to most, is much improved over the last game I'm sure there's much more, but it's after three in the morning here. Thinking objectively hurts at 3:17am.

Yeah your points are reasonable I suppose. IMO I loved the lore because I actually read it in the past. But the new players probably will have a hard time understanding. I like how they took out Spartan abilites like Jetpack and such and added built in ones. Some old characters returning, etc.

Even halo 4 had a more solid narrative

Unlike a lot of people, I thought Halo 4 had an excellent story. I enjoyed seeing Master Chief in a more human light.
