I remember Bungie stating that they were going to handle inactive players in strikes way before HoW.
I saw a player shoot at the very beginning of the match at some enemies outside as I headed in doors to the actual strike. We make it to the part where we deploy the ghosts and I notice only one player is actively playing. The other player was hiding in a corner, a member of the second players fire team. At first I thought maybe the guy is switching weapons or transferring something from the vault via an application. The last part where the finial wizard comes and the guy is still in the corner. So I pull splash damage to the spot to see if he will move... surely enough the player moves.
That being a major piece of the raid and he had not fired one round. We move through towards the knight and an ogre and he fires his weapon a few times at the thrall. Once we get to the next spot they are left behind as I move on to the end guy. After being on the end guy for sometime, alone. I went ahead and checked and verified they were in the match still. Sure enough the Titian shows up and is helping on the strike.
Then I glance over after a while and see that the same warlock is still inactive just hiding. The warlock had not fired a single round. Being the two were in a fire team together I decided it was due time I stop finishing these strikes for inactive players and decide to see what it would take to get the guy to actually become active and play in the match.
Attached is the video of that encounter. I then go on to solo the next strike after they left, that footage is on youtube as well, never getting a replacement team.
I guess I have two main issues, the second and least important first. How in matchmaking was I allowed to go the entire match from start to finish without getting a team? The first time was on the weekly and the second time was after the inactive players group left. Now the most important part, how after all the take about kicking inactive players and how they were a poison to the "Player Experience" was this guy able to make it through the entire match literally doing nothing?
If a player is bad, I will devote my time to carry that individual through the strike. I may even invite the player and run raids and PoE to get them weapons and gear if it looks like that is the reason. What I won't do any longer is carry a guy that is content to sit, never fire their weapon and wait for you to do all the work. That is a clear poison on the "Player Experience" and that cancer needs to be removed!
I've turned off notifications, I will not be responding to comments and will never even know they exist.
Good luck and hopefully you don't have to put up with this in the future.
