@Bungie, give us a Forge Mode and I'll build us a time machine.

There are a lot of things that existed in Halo that I'd like to see in Destiny and maybe one day I'll write about some more, but one thing that is sorely missing from Destiny is player created content. I spent more time using the Forge in Reach than I did playing the actual game (see above video). Didn't use Halo 3's too much because it was just that big room, but Timesplitters 2 had an amazing map creator and I made dozens of maps with it including recreations of The Temple and The Facility from GoldenEye. So what do you think Cozmo? Maybe you could run it by the Devs and see what they think. Obviously we're talking Destiny 2 here, but it would be worth the wait. Oh, and I imagine if we had a Forge Mode, we might see some sweet Sparrow Racing tracks... ;) Now someone tell me why the hell I'm still up... [spoiler]oh yeah, nostalgia.[/spoiler] [spoiler] and feedback on video appreciated, think they're improving :)[/spoiler]

  • I think a type of Forge mode for Destiny would be incredible. I'll make sure the devs know you are interested but can't make any promises if it will be added. I would love to see what the community could do with the ability to create maps, but if you think about everything that goes into creating such a tool it would a hug undertaking to create.

          • The amount of sandbox fighting in here for the tonka truck is astonishing. Can Cozmo reply to me, too!? Anyway, on topic. I'd be so down for a Forge World type of playground. I'm actually surprised it hasn't been brought up for a concept since Forge World was their creation. I don't except to see anything though till our worlds open up and we can explore different parts of planets instead of just Russia, etc.

            • Great idea, great vid, cool music (try Joe Satriani, sounds something like John). Oh, Complex...the site of so many great fights, lots of Capture the Case in Goldeneye, and mayhem in Perfect Dark. Lots of memories of Slayers, Farsights, N-bombs, Dragons...oh, the nostalgia is painful! If you can get get the people, send me a friend request; I'm totally up for it!

              • It's a neat idea, and one that could be considered under the right circumstances.. But I don't see this happening. Destiny doesn't exist in the right realm for player-created content. Issues of canon and story alone would cause bumps in the road from the start. Thus far every location we visit has some sort of significance be it the location of an epic battle waged in times passed or an area of interest toward future/current endeavors. I'm not one to truncate player's creativity and ideas, but I just don't see it fitting in when a random player could make a cock-and-balls shaped map and call that Destiny. That's not this game for me. I'm aware that many players would be attempting their creative opus when delving into the forge, but there's a level of quality that needs upheld when creating maps for a serious game where the story is told inline with the gameplay. I could also see this being exploited to the content creator's advantage. Unfortunately Destiny much like the real world is very cutthroat in competitive fields and I could see someone doing work along those lines. Personally, I would love a Vault of Glass themed crucible map. Complete with pitfalls and vanishing platforms. I think if it were implemented I would attempt something along those lines. Not to say I'd make the end-all VOG PVP map, but I'd try.

                  I don't remember if it was Reach or Halo 3, I think it was Reach. I created my own version of the event from the old Gladiators TV show where 2 gladiators stood at the top of a mountain and shot tennis balls at contestants below as the contestants tried to move around obstacles grabbing weapons trying to hit a bullseye above the gladiators to knock them off their perch. I had to mold it a little to fit the Forge capabilities, I used the "plant the bomb" game as my basis. Planting the bomb triggered a win for the contestants. I had 2 guys on floating platforms with snipers and rocket launchers, these were the gladiators. The other 2 guys (contestants) ran the bomb around obstacles, one guy grabbed the bomb while the other laid down cover fire. The guy carrying the bomb had an overshield but moved much slower, he was simultaneously easier to hit but harder to kill. There were obstacles to avoid and there were areas to take cover. Random explosive items were left in random areas just for fun. The area to place and detonate the bomb was on a well fortified lower floating platform. The detonation of the bomb would trigger a chain reaction of explosions that worked its way all the way up to the gladiators up top and killed them. If the contestant didn't jump to the lower platform just right to detonate the bomb then they could be thrown backwards into the field of play and have to redo that part of the arena. This is all set to a timer so the gladiators also have a chance to win. It was tremendously fun and I spent a ridiculous amount of time putting it together. Also created a POW type game, a dodgeball type game, a couple of others that I don't remember all these beers later. EDIT: We also tried to create a soccer mode but we could never figure out the ball return mechanic after a goal was scored.

Choose beginning area, first wave defense location, second wave defense location (optional), and "Boss" room. Spawn areas can be set for enemies to either spawn in a general area (mild variety) or in specific locations. The boss can be selected from a preset list. Environments can be modified to add diversity and varied gameplay. ~[Mentor of Choice]: We have a chance to free this territory from [enemy] control. Get in there, Guardians, and cripple their forces once and for all! ~Variks: I have managed to intercept Fallen intel about a massive uprising against the [City/Reef]. You will see to it that they do not succeed, yes? ~Eris: The Hive are preparing to seed [location]. We cannot let them spread their vile ways any further across the galaxy! Stop them, Guardian! [b]Story[/b] - New locations could be created. Choose from a list of story type missions (get items from enemies, scan a location, wave defense, explore, defeat a big enemy, etc.). Choose a starting point, objective path (Scan this, get items here, wave defense, etc in various locations), and where the Darkness Zone begins. Spawn areas can be set for enemies to either spawn in a general area (mild variety) or in specific locations. Environments can be modified to add diversity and varied gameplay. ~(Item Hunt) [Ghost/Eris/Petra]: [Items] were [crucial/stolen]. They must be recovered! ~(Scan Location) [Ghost/Eris/Petra]: (A connection needs to be made, something unusual needs to be analyzed...fight to a location to get a quick scan) ~(Wave Defense) [Ghost/Eris/Petra]: Recover information [from the Golden Age/Hive Activity/Fallen Intel] here or steal information from the enemy! ~(Target an enemy) [Ghost/Eris/Petra]: There is a surge of power in this location. Stop this growing threat before it can make a full impact against us! [b]Patrol[/b] - Create a new environment or modify an existing one. Beacons can be moved around, added, or removed, and their missions can be customized (Target location, item drops, etc). ~[Mentor]: We need intel on this location. We must begin to secure this area!

                        I've always found a game that put the power of creativity into the players' hands much more fun and have much longer lifespans than games strictly controlled by the devs--of course not true with all games. I have a feeling Im gonna be losing many hours of my life to Fallout 4 with the building of settlements, crafting, and mods haha. Would be amazing if Bungie implemented some mechanic that allowed players to show off their creativity ingame...beyond finding exploits and bugs of course lol.

                        • Ya know Lost, I just realized this. Even though the forge is an excellent idea there are 2 problems I forsee. 1) seeing as how bungie can't make a raid without a lot of issues, hence the reason why how is raid free...and bungie is not the same bungie without Joe Staten and many others that helped build the original forge...I HIGHLY DOUBT their ability. 2) IF they did make it...they would undoubtedly charge a ridiculous amount for it. Although the forge is a great idea...I think they've bit off more than they can chew already...and really need to focus on the CURRENT issues...like optional MM, dedicated servers/crucible lag, making year 1 gear upgradeable...and the many many other issues.

                                    • Just thinking, Project Spark, Destiny style. The ability to add bot spawn points could be awesome ending up with rivals for PoE & CoO. Hell even add friendly bots. Minus Project Sparks micro-transactions however.
