Year 2 Confusion (The Exotic Scare)

Ok, I need some help understanding exactly what is going on with the weapon status once Year 2 comes around. Now I watched Planet Destiny's coverage of the major points within the Year 2 stream, (because I'm a lazy arse), but now I will likely watch the stream in its entirely due to one of my most perplexing questions. I understand that Bungie is excited to promote their new weapons etc in year two in addition to allowing the "infusion" process on weapons collected in the expansion in order to really fall in love with a new gun and keep it, but I don't remember the part where they explained that exotics will not be listed for infusion. From what I think they want to handle this is with the blueprint system, "buying" the "new" exotic, thus being up to date with the infusion process. According to the forums, this is not the case. Additionally, the main source of the fear in a lot of the player seems to be the section of the stream where a select few exotics were listed to have "the Year 2 treatment." From what I understood, these particular weapons were receiving reworks to their perks/stats to make them more effective and up to date with the year 2 content, not that they were the only exotic weapons to recover the infusion benefits. However, from what I can see on the forums, there is a huge hysteria over individuals basically losing their favorite exotic weapons to the introduction of Year 2. I can in fact relate to my sadness of losing Hard Light, my favorite exotic, BUT, that doesn't even seem to be the case. I really don't remember any part of the stream that suggested other exotics will be prevented from the infusion process?? I've been trying to keep a lot of TTK a secret so nothing gets spoiled, so I am likely just misinformed, but I also believe that there is just a community misunderstanding that everyone has plenty of reason to have a shitstorm about if a dev doesn't clear things up soon. (I'm looking at you, Cozmo) Anyway, could I maybe get some clarification from the forums about just how things are about to go down? I do find it very strange that Exotic class weapons would be obsolete by any means... This seems like a misunderstanding, but if this really is no mistake, then I truly must highlight what a disappointment that news is to hear in addition to how bad of a design choice this is by the development team at Bungie. Any information that someone could give me? It would be nice to soothe the community with some transparency..... TL;DR I thought the infusion process was going to be available to all Exotics in Year 2. Can someone please give me a reliable source that proves this theory wrong or right?
Edits are for formatting in addition to adding a "TL;DR
• After reading through the latest News post several times now, I do realize the level of ignorance in this post, however my question still stands in a sense that I would love an explicit example of the fate of current exotics. I could care less about Gjallarhorn personally, but I know that most of the player base love this weapon very much. The statement "Gjallarhorn will remain at year one levels" (paraphrased) is not particularly clear in terms of gameplay. What I fear is that this means there will be no damage upgrades for current exotic weapons, which again stresses my thought that this is a horrendous design choice, as the list of available exotic weapons is now greatly reduced, as a very large percentage of the player base are long-time Destiny players that do not want weapons, of all things, to be suddenly lost to the past. Leaving behind legendary weapons is a bit of an interesting choice, but excluding Exotic weapons is foolish, as they are no longer "Exotic" but are now, instead, Commonplace.

      • read the weekly update. they said ghorn will stay at year 1 level. so most likely the other exotics that were not included will experience the same thing. a big step back. I don't understand.

        • I get that they want us to chase new gear... And I'm really looking forward to doing this, but I do wish all year 1 exotics were getting MK2 versions... Just imagine a redux Hardlight! Mmmmmm.... The thing is exotics are each so unique (with a few exceptions) that keeping them relevant is not going to prevent most players from hunting new gear... Also, what was the point in Nerfing Ice Breaker and Ghorn in 2.0 if at that point they will be stuck at year 1 max forever?!? And why should xbox players care about the PS exclusives that they are now finally getting?!?

          • The answer is bungie hates you for loving the game so much you grow attached to your items so they aren't taking them away they are just adding nuclear cores to new exotics. Aka the weapons you love can't possibly compete.
