Before you say "No, only Raid/Endgame primaries should elemental damage", hear me out. My idea is to have a new type of consumable item called Elemental Crystals, which can only be obtained from Endgame activities; Raids, Prison of Elders, and Trials of Osiris. Now to the Q & A: _______________________________________________________________________________ Q: What is an Elemental Crystal? A: An Elemental Crystal is a consumable item that works just like the Sparrow Drives that Xur sells every week. You equip a Legendary or Exotic primary, and use the Elemental Crystal, which then applies the new elemental damage type to that weapon. Q: What types of Elemental Crystals are there? A: There are four; "Solar Crystal", "Arc Crystal", "Void Crystal", and "Unstable Crystal". The Unstable Crystal is the most common, and applies a random damage type when used. Q: How do I get Elemental Crystals? A: Defeating the final boss in a Raid activity on Hard Mode or in the Prison of Elders Level 35 challenge mode would have a chance of rewarding you with a single Elemental Crystal. You could also receive them from the chest in The Lighthouse if you go Flawless in the Trials of Osiris. You also have a chance to receive Elemental Crystals from dismantling unwanted Raid primaries. Q: What weapons can I use Elemental Crystals on? A: Any Legendary or Exotic primary weapon that has Kinetic Damage. Weapons that already have Elemental Damage applied, such as the Vex Mythoclast and Necrochasm cannot be changed. This also applies to Raid weapons. Elemental Crystals cannot be used on Special or Heavy weapons. Q: Can I change the damage type after using an Elemental Crystal? A: No. Elemental Crystals can only be used on weapons that have Kinetic Damage by default. Keep this in mind when using Unstable Crystals, especially when it comes to Exotics. Unstable Crystals apply a random damage type. Q: Can Elemental Crystals be purchased from vendors, like Xur? A: No. As I stated above, they can only be earned by completing Endgame activities on Hard Mode, going Flawless in Trials of Osiris, or dismantling primary weapons earned from these activities. Q: What are the drop rates for different Elemental Crystals? A: Adept weapons from Level 35 Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris, as well as weapons earned on Normal mode in the Vault of Glass (Atheon's Epilogue, Vision of Confluence) are more likely to drop Unstable Crystals when dismantled. Dismantling weapons earned on Hard Mode (Fatebringer, Word of Crota, Vex Mythoclast, etc.) will always drop an Elemental Crystal corresponding to their damage type, if they drop one at all- as with Telemetry consumables, it is not a guaranteed drop. Killing the boss at the end of a Hard Raid will always reward a specific type of Elemental Crystal, if one drops at all (they drop less frequently than weapons); you will NOT receive Unstable Crystals from beating Crota or Atheon. Q: Can I still re-roll my weapons after using an Elemental Crystal? A: No. Once you've used a crystal on any primary weapon, it can no longer be re-rolled at the Gunsmith. This applies to both House of Wolves weapons and pre- and post-DLC Iron Banner weapons. Q: Is there anything else we can do with Elemental Crystals? A: You can sell them to the Gunsmith in the Tower for Glimmer or Weapon Parts. Solar, Arc, and Void Crystals are worth more than Unstable Crystals.
