Simple Math Tells Me Not To Buy TTK

I've spent over 300hrs on this game, and nearly $100 for the base game and the DLC season pass. A new comer would be able to spend $60 for all of it. That's already a $40 difference, without even mentioning The Taken King. Then they ask us to spend another $40 for just the base DLC pack of The Taken King. So now that's up to an $80 difference. That $80 could get me everything and then some with the Collector's Edition. I know my math sucks, but those numbers just don't sit well with me. It's forceful sexual acts, there's another word for it, but I won't say it here because of forum rules, or at least I'd assume you can't say that four letter word here. What I'd strongly urge all players to do is to not buy the DLC. I won't be dishing out another $40 for content that I don't even know about that apparently has great value in the eyes of Luke Smith... which don't even get me started on that tool bag. If Bungie and Activision want to fix this, they'll drop the price on the base DLC for The Taken King to $20, and add in the emotes, shaders and class items you'd get in the collector's edition, plus whatever else they were going to include with it that they haven't even announced yet. Heck, even just dropping the DLC price to $20 alone would keep me in the game. But, because I know none of that will happen, I will be saying goodbye to Destiny. In my head I see a line graph with Destiny's player base just going down after that Luke Smith interview.

  • You played at least 300 hours at the cost of $100 while a newcomer will have payed $60 But 0 hours. You paid more to play sooner. Time is money. You still have a better deal

  • If it isn't the price of the ttk killing the game, it'll be their servers

  • Most of the taken King dlc had already been created 2 years ago. It was greed that led bungie to cut it from the game to later sell for a bigger profit. It was all planned from the start before the beta was even released. And there's even more content that was cut so that they can profit further. Il hear more about that in 6 months from now. I only know cuz my friend is a data miner who helped discover the house of wolves content and put it on reddit before it was released with great accuracy It's a 10 year plan in the making

    • The core game of Destiny and ttk are close to the same size. Most full game average around 40 to 60 gigs. Not Destiny. The core around only 20 gigs for $60. That means and we all know this. 20 to 40 gigs of the game was cut out and sold as dlc. Really messed up. No ttk is not worth $40 and Destiny wasn't worth the $60. The combined of everything is worth a full game. But Activision will milk Bungies fans and watch them drop $1,000 over 10 years to play Destiny. More than a Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus subscription.

If they do this right, every player can benefit and bungivision is happy with increased profit. They could charge $20 for the expansions and dlc could and would be free. Many high quality and long lived games have done this. One great example is Minecraft. All the dlc and expansions have been free, yes Minecraft has been evolving since it came out to no cost of the player, but many add one like skin and texture pack have been giving notch enough money to keep the project going for a long time. This is true as well as with mobile gaming. The game I have been playing has been out longer than destiny and is free, had free dlcs, and sadly better pvp patching. So micro transactions is a future for gaming to give devs money at no cost for gamers.

      • Quite frankly, the expansions should of been free in the first place

      • It's 189 euros for Europeans who bought the digital edition. It's a -blam!- nothing more nothing else. It's almost twice the price in dollars. I understand Europeans make up 50% of the revenue of this company, but this time they can sit on my check. I will not spend another 89 euros to continue playing a bugged game designed for glitching and 12years' old' ego.
