Ok I've tolerated a lot of being screwed over due to living in Australia but this time it's pushed me over the edge!
As of the E3 announcement for taken king I rushed to the ps store to check if the pre order for the new dlc was out, and it was.
However!!! I noticed it was $70!!! and at the announcement it was said to be only $40. This does not look like $40!
I know with conversion rates and the newly announced import tax implemented here adding a tax on products that come from outside of Australia and this includes digital downloads aswell.
Yeah all you people are complaining about paying $40 for this major expansion imagine how we feel having to do almost double for the exact same thing.
All I ask is that someone in marketing check this out incase somebody made a mistake and if it isn't a mistake and it's due to this blaming moronic government please add something like a sorry you got screwed on the price condolence bonus to players in Australia (and New Zealand if this effects them too).
I have supported destiny since the original trailer showing the old upgrade system along with the original tower concept where the speaker area is where the iron banner spot was and pre ordered the console bundle the day it was announced. I love this game but it's stuff like this that hurts my wallet badly and I'm a student working a single shift a week at a fast food place hoping to one day create video games and try to work at BUNGIE to help sculpt destiny into something even more amazing then it is already.
The more people notice this post the more chance we can make a difference.

At the $70 mark you're still paying less than people from the UK. $70 aus = £32 UK price of TTK = £40 which equals $86 aus. Still think you have it bad?

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/09/07/halo-composer-wins-bungie-shares-creative-control-lawsuit This idea will probably fall on deaf ears but I've changed my avatar to the pic of Marty O'Donnell the original MVP who stood up to the shitty practices of Bungievision and i suggest you all do the same. Just as little reminder every time we comment on something they may f*ck people over in the short term but it will always come back and bite them on the arse!

I agree with you its a lot of money for a dlc
-
Do you really have awesome coffee down there? Like the best? Heard it was because long ago influx of certain people. Alai, did you see Crocodile Dundee? That guy was a badass.

Edited by Tzoedn: 8/19/2015 5:31:50 AMI think the cause of your confusion is that the same symbol is used for the American and Australian currency. I think it should be sold in Australia at the equivalent to $40 usd, or close to it. Whatever that is
-
im from the UK, were in this price war with you Guardian! vote up all fair price threads. Price parity for all!
-
With exchange rates and everything $40US = roughly $55AU and if you include GST it goes to about $60AU $70 is ridiculous, personally I would happily pay $55 but I think this is just trying to rip off dedicated AU and UK players as they are being overcharged as well more than us I believe
-
$70 AUD = $50 USD. I'm in Canada, which appears to be the only country that is benefiting from this ordeal, we pay $40 CAD, which is currently $30 USD. I short, you're only paying $10 USD more than your US buddies, which IS more, but isn't a $30 USD difference which it seems to be.
-
First world problems buddy.
-
Preorders for Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront are up now, both are actually cheaper than TTK Digital Collectors Edition!
-
Don't fight against the price of video games too much. You could be much worse off with the education and medical systems the U.S. has to deal with. Economy, taxes, etc. come down to more than just video games.
-
Right now I can't find it for sale anywhere on the playstation store etc. and can't find any released figure by Bungie. So hopefully it doesn't come out for $70 from the uproar we are having. I'd happily pay $40. But anything more is still robbery, and $70 is comical. I don't see many people buying it in Australia if that happens, and they will be forced to lower it.

Waaaaahhhhhhhhhaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
-
American companies = greedy pieces of sh$@
-
I can by the witcher at target for $69 in Australia, why the -blam!- would i get ttk.
-
Just open your wallet and throw money at the screen.

Edited by DismissTree7: 9/14/2015 11:52:54 AMOur Australia dollar has gone down dramatically. $1AU is $0.71US.
-
Pretty much everywhere outside the U.S. is being overcharged for this DLC, and Bungie doesn't say a word about it. They're greedy bastards, especially when you're not getting anywhere near enough content to justify that price. Even if you were, those in the States will then be getting more content for less. However it works out, we get ripped off.
-
One thing I want to let you guys know is that it isn't just TTK that's a difference price in a different country. I'm from Canada. And everything is more expensive for us than for America. Australia is even more so. Halo 5 is 60$ in America. 75$ in Canada. And 100$ in Australia. Why? Look at minimum wage and the cost of everything else. A lot of things are more expensive at the bottom of the world, it's not just Destiny. While it sucks, it makes prefect sense if you take a look at simple economics.

Edited by MadazTurb323nz: 9/14/2015 11:07:17 AMI live in New Zealand the collectors edition is $129.95NZD and $74.95NZD for just the DLC so I don't know what the rest of you cry baby's in the world are complaining about us kiwis are getting fisted in the butt with no lube #Fisted
-
Why bother buying the $70, I know I'm sure as hell not, was quite annoyed when I found out. But I have figured for $9 more, you can buy the legendary edition, which comes with the base game, and the two previous expansions, not them new actions or shaders or class items, but get the VIP rewards still if you have both expansions or a level 30 character.. PS3 https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/ps3/destiny-the-taken-king-legendary-edition/733383/ PS4 https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/ps4/destiny-the-taken-king-legendary-edition/733381/
-
I bought the collectors for 100$ :/
-
blame Activision/SCE-AU Bungie is probably irrelevant
-
Im not buying it till the price comes down
-
The worst part too is you can get Destiny AND all its L DLC for 100$, and yet they expect us to fork out 70% of that for 1/4 of it Logic? Considering I've supported this game from the same point that OP has, and I've spent nearly 200$ on destiny things, put in the dedication time and everything Bad enough Bungie banned my 360 (yes I'm still bitter. Your favourite gaming company gets petty and burns 400$ worth of your money for a false reason, then refuses to help you out, how would you feel?) You guys are really testing my patience You seem to forget it's your dedicated fans that got you where you are today
-
What the absolute hell, i was going to buy TTK tonight only to find the price so fricking high and highly considering just abandoning the game entirely for that price, i could get another game entire for that price. Please do something about this bungie......
