Atheon could be a Guardian!

There have been many rumors saying that Atheon could perhaps be a good guy. I am here to propose my theory as to why this may be true. Let's start by stating how this theory is supported. Atheon is a Vex (obviously). The Vex worship The Black Garden. Specifically, it's Heart. The Heart of The Black Garden is a god to the Vex. The Black Garden is part of The Darkness. Atheon's name is Greek. It is a form of Atheos. Spit that into a translator, and it will ask you if you meant this: Άθεος. What does that mean in English? Godless, Atheistic, or Atheistical. Let's make the connection here. Does this suggest that Atheon defies the will of The Black Garden? The Black Garden is a part of the darkness, so does this mean that Atheon is a being of Light? A Guardian? Probably not. The Grimoire for Atheon states that he has a purpose. He is a conflux of time (as his name states as well). He regulates and oversees the Vex conflux system. If any of this is true, he can't be good. But read the last line of his Grimoire card. "But we must accept that all of this is speculation" His Grimoire is more than likely true, but what if it wasn't. Here is where my theory comes in. What if Atheon really was a good guy? He could have tried to stop the Vex. The Oracles forsaw this attempt and imprisoned him. That is why he is in the deepest part of the Vault. He is a prisoner, a traitor, and it is his punishment. Let's look at The Templar's Grimoire. "The Templar and the Oracles guard the way into the deeper Vault. Legends say that the Oracles foresee what is to come, a world as the Vex desire it - and that the Templar has the power to shape reality to match the Oracles' design, expunging any threats." The Templar guards Atheon, to be sure that he is never released. The only one who would even have a chance at knowing the weakness of the Vex. He can shape reality. He created Atheon's 'cell' and guards it. He expunges any threats. Atheon is a threat to the Vex. If we release him, that makes us threats. Let's look at an alternate possibility... Perhaps Atheon is Kabr reincarnated after being killed by the Templar. When you die in the Vault of Glass it says "you are forever lost on the dark corners of time" or something like that. When Kabr was killed he was lost in the dark corners of time and was sent to the Vault of Glass. In the Vault of Glass the past, present, and future are accessible and controlled by Atheon. Kabr was sent into the dark corners of time after being killed. Kabr is now a prisoner of time just like Atheon. Atheon is a prisoner of time and therefore gives some legitimacy to the idea Atheon is a good guy because in essence, Atheon could be Kabr trapped in a Vault of time. My explanation to why Atheon (Kabr)was shooting you as you accessed time is, Vex are trying to separate themselves from time and Atheon(Kabr) is simply defending time from all that try to alter it.

    • Another theory I heard is that Atheon's goal is to exist throughout time, defying the flow of time, an atheist to time.

      • That could possibly be why atheon is in the vault of glass and has control only in that area, the vex feared that atheon could over throw the black garden some how and so they imprisoned him in the vault

      • In theory this is a great idea, but if im not mistaken. Kabr went in with a raid team. The only reason he knows he went in with a full team is because you cant open it alone. That being said while his team was in the vault his team was being slowly erased from existence due to the power of the gorgons. So because time was rewritten he no longer remember who was with him in the vault. Palomar leaves to warn the vanguard and leaves him the super good advice because of its AI technology so he isnt alone.

      • Atheon is the only vex who goes against the gods that the vex in the black garden worship. Atheon means godless in Latin. Kabr either became the relic or is Xûr considering it said Kabr enters the vault by himself but was not alone. Xûr has all the class items (cloak, bond, mark) making sense of how he was alone but not "alone." Kabr was probably a combination of the three classes. Like the light of 3 guardians fused together. And he was either corrupted and left his light in the relic and became Xûr (a dark lightless figure). Or he simply became the relic, leaving his light to aid in the fight against Atheon and losing his physical form, and Xûr is just some random royal amethyst powder snorting creeper who sells you special things.

        • He is atheistic because he is the god. He is the vex god. What god do you know that worships another god?

        • This could be correct but I don't think Atheon is a good guy/ Kabr reincarnated. I believe that there is a piece of Kabr's soul inside of Atheon, that piece could potentially be the reason why we are able to defeat Atheon. What's to stop Atheon from putting us into a locked up time zone and leaving us there? Kabr's soul, it holds Atheon back from decimating us before we even fire one bullet. Atheon has the power to do anything in that vault, but the soul of Kabr has saved us.

Well I always thought that he was a good guy...well not necessarily on our side though. I think he and his disciples aren't followers of the darkness like the rest of the vex but rather a rogue chapter of the vex forces. I mean look at his name Atheon the it sounds quite alot like atheist, a person who does not believe in the existence of a higher power, and we know that the vex worship the darkness like a god. Also look at his appearance he is glowing, shimmering in a bright white light. If he really was a disciple if the darkness do you think he would look as if he was bursting with light? He would most likely look more like Quodron, stark black with a cloud of darkness surrounding him. In short I agree with you! Great theory!

            • Atheon is Godless because in the Vault, he IS God. He is Time's conflux. The point where that past and future meet.
